Are the XFi worth the extra amount that is paid for them? I bet they are. I'd still settle for a earlier model on my budget, but If I could afford it I'd buy an XFi. I bet they rock.
My question is do they suffer sound corruption in an overclocked system? ![]()

Freedom is a feature.

Re: Soundblaster XFi choices
IMHO, today's integrated cards are good enough that there is basically no need for anything else.

Re: Soundblaster XFi choices
if u r going to go xfi, get the titanium pcie vers. i upgraded from audigy2's on both comps & the xfi is definetly better.
of course your speakers play a big part in this. if you just have average speakers i wouldnt waste the $$. on board sound is ok for low end(& with newere boards midrange) speakers. both comps are oc'd & have no effect at all on card performance.

Re: Soundblaster XFi choices
That's good. Not having the prob anymore though. I've switched to Vista and everything's fine a 4GigHz.

and what about ASIO support... the ASIO4ALL driver is a good replacement for an ASIO driver if you happen to have a card that has no ASIO support, but it still is only a temporary replacement... in my opinion, onboard cards are still only good for one thing... playback...

Re: Soundblaster XFi choices
I'm quite happy with the one i got in sig. But it really depends on what you do. For gaming it has made a huge difference especially if you couple it with good speakers/headset. Make sure your speakers are on par with whatever soundcard you plan to purchase.

Re: Soundblaster XFi choices
I did not shy away from dumping my Audigy 2 for a X-Fi Fata1ity FPS PCI for gaming. But I would never go back to realtek or cmedia onboard sound solutions. And as Robert stated, stay away from the Extreme audio.
GigaWatt is right about the recording quality of onboard sound solutions, at best they are poor. Even for voice recording on most VOIP as ventrilo or teamspeak while playing games. Onboard just doesn't cut it once the processor gets stressed.

Re: Soundblaster XFi choices
The only thing that bugs me is temperature. Like if you have SLI, won't all three cards be heating up next to eachother?
