4 speaker problem

i have a MSi k7N2 motherboard. i use the built in nvidia driver for sound and it supports up to 5.1
i have creative inspire 4.1 speakers but the problem is that sound comes out only from the 2 of them. is there any settin in windows which enables the 4 speakrs? all the speakers are in wurkin condition because when i change the speaker leads in each other sockets in the back of the pc the other 2 speakers wurk but not all of them wurk together

click start:contorol panel:sounds,speachand audio devices:change speaker settigs:advanced speaher settings.

u should see a list of different settings ie 2 speakers desktop thruogh to 7.1.

there are 2 settings for yours.

1.quadrophonic spaehers or

2.sourond sound speakers.

beware they might not be very noticable to me when i had creative labs 4.1

i have just upgraded to 5.1 theres a big difference

hope thats clear enough for you.

have u tried updating to the latest driver?

have u any sound management software installed and not setup correctly?

any loose/faulty cables?

my old 4.1's i didn't get much sound out of the rear two speakers as they are usually set for surround setup.

found a possibility from vampromaniac.

more or less the same problem as yours.

try blue:as rear speakers
pink:as centre/sub
green:front speakers

it appears that if motherboards with on board 6.1 card the other ports double up as outputs for speakers?

Donator
In the nVidia control panel (should be in system tray) under Speaker Settings there is a 'Rear Speaker Phase Shift' setting which you can play around with if your rear speakes are playing in Mono or are making tiny sound. See if raising this value increases the output of your rear speakers.

prob

although i have installed the nforce 2.03 drivers completely and they show in add and remove programs but there is no nvidia control panel. i have searched every where. the nforce drivers auomatically are installed to c:\nvidia and not c:\programfiles\nvidia also when when i click on sound storm in C:\NVIDIA\nForce\WinXP\2.03\AudioUtl it says failed to initialize sound drivers please install and try again. i have installed the mobo drivers thrice already but it gives the same prob
