Hello All
![]() I just got an Auzentech Forte, wanted to connect to my Sony TV via "male 3.5mm to RCA cable" (as I could with my old creative card). But, I got no sound. TV is a new Sony Bravia 40". The issue has a lot to do with Nvidia driver - before the Nvidia driver is installed, Forte card to my TV via "male 3.5mm to RCA cable" works fine. No Nvidia driver, no problem! Example: on a fresh XP install, I install drivers for the Forte, reboot, and I get sound on my TV via 3.5mm to RCA cable - UNTIL - I install the Nvidia driver, when I click FINISH on the Nvidia driver setup, the sound Stops working. ![]() BUT, if I set the Nvidia Control Panel to send signal to ONLY my Dell LCD, the sound then works again via RCA cable on TV (but no pic). IF I set the TV as a 2nd monitor (or even as the ONLY one) - I get picture but NO MORE sound via RCA cable! Ideally, I want the sound card connected to video card via 2 pin S/PDIF cable, so sound & video pass via 1 HDMI cable to TV. Problem is, I see no S/PDIF out pins on the Forte for my 2 pin wire either, so I have no sound to TV. ![]() IS there a diagram for which 2 pins are "S/PDIF out" on the Forte? Is there some *special* cable that would run from the backplate of the Forte (optical ...) that could go from the Forte back into my case and attach to the little S/PDIF INput plug on my Geforce GTX 275 video card??? I am really not sure why this doesn't work, strange issue, need some intelligent input, so I came here ![]() THANKS for any help you can offer |

Re: Nvidia driver kills SOUND CARD output - Auzentech FORTE 7.1
Imho since you are using hdmi it would be best to contact Auzentech and ask them on which two pins you can connect the sound cable that comes with your GTX. This will send sound through both DVI connectors for a hassle free setup.
I wish I could help you out with a quick easy answer but my searches turned out with no info

Hi dipstick, (dipstick is actually my nick by my family for 20 years lol)
I really appreciate you searching and trying to help ![]() I searched too, found many similar problems - but no solution. I DID ask Auzentech to help, asked which pins to use for s/pdif... (you are correct, that WOULD be the best way to connect), I used that method with my old X-Fi card and my on-board card - it was perfect. I was told the Forte has a plug with 2 pins labeled DIGITAL IN, and that was for the s/pdif cable - BUT, for s/pdif to video card, I expected it would be named DIGITAL OUT ![]() Auzen has yet to reply at all, since the 5th and from what I hear, they probably won't ![]() I got some good input from guru3d, I am going to test a few things later. Have a look - let me know if you can add anything: AuzenTech Forte - no sound to TV - Plug/cable question - Guru3D.com Forums BIG thanks for the input. |

Re: Nvidia driver kills SOUND CARD output - Auzentech FORTE 7.1
Hey sorry for the delay. I've looked through it but tbh it sounds like you've tried almost anything. From what ive read I'd give this a shot; move the gfx card to the top primary pcie slot and try to install the sound drivers after you install the nvidia set.
They probably wont make a difference but its worth a shot imho |

Hi & thanks for all the input.
I reinstalled the other day, tried what was suggested above... NOT working lol I have the exact same situation as before. EXACTLY. Sound if fine via RCA cable UNTIL I set Nvidia control panel to output to TV - if set at SINGLE (Dell 24" LCD), then sound comes out TV fine with no pic. If I set output to TV, sound stops immediately! ![]() WTF?????!!!!!
