Audigy 1 SB0090 Windows 7 SPDIF Help?

I'm using the spdif out on the Audigy 2 ZS live drive which is wired to the SB0090. The sound works fine and using DDL i get Dolby Digital 5.1. Anyway the SPDIF on Creative Audigy in the Audio Control Panel, When testing supported formats it says "The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and then try again". Why is it that i can't use anything in the SPDIF interface of the card and only the speakers interface works?

I have to set in "speakers" to Digital Out Only, and enable DDL on Creative Audigy SPDIF to get DD 5Ch on the receiver. Anyway I want to be able to enable SPDIF in KMPlayer to get higher quality sound from DTS/ AC3 MKVs. AC3 Filter in KMPlayer says SPDIF (Disabled)?
