CTIntrfc.dll...

Hey guys,

I recently installed the Audigy 2 drivers for my Audigy 1 and everything works fine for the most part, except... applications like Speaker Settings, EAX control panel, and Surround Mixer. Basically what happens when I try open them is an error that says, "The file CTIntrfc.dll cannot be found, re-installing the application may correct this problem." I've re-installed countless times and still no success I've also tried running a file search for the file and I cannot find it.

Any thoughts?

there must be something wrong with your installation, and i doubt that placing that file into the apps folder will fix it. uninstall all apps, delete all creative registry entries, reinstall the apps and the drivers. make sure you are using the proper driver set, you can get the full 383 set, compatible with the audigy here: http://snow.prohosting.com/eh4x0r/downloads.htm
the applications may require updating to support the newer drivers. all updates can be found on creative's website. if you're using audigy 2 apps, try using the original audigy ones instead.

OK I did all of that and still the same error. I don't really even want these apps but it seems they are necessary to get 4 speaker sound. I tried doing a "Drivers only" install and it only gives me 2 speakers even though in control panel it's set to Quadrophonic.

These are the steps I take to install the drivers:

1. Uninstall any sound drivers and related applications
2. Reboot
3. Remove registry entries and the Creative folder from hard disk
4. Put in the driver CD I made from the sb_multilang.rar and install Audigy 2 drivers with certain apps like Speaker Settings, EAX Control Panel, and Speaker Calibration
5. Install 383 driver update.

What am I doing wrong?

Actually, it's not enough to install the 383 update for Aufigy2 if you have Audigy1, as some data files will be missing. Install the 383 update for Audigy1, or use the full 383 package on my site (link above). If you want just the basic apps, use the "SlimPak" I've prepared (it doesn't have compatibility problems that the A2 apps experience with other cards), also on my site.

I did do what you said and installed the 383 drivers from your site. The drivers work fine except for the fact that I can't get 4 speaker sound, which is apparently only attainable by installing the apps/drivers from the sb_install_multilang.rar even though I can't use them

Ok this is what I'm going to try: Uninstall all Creative drivers/registry entries/etc and reboot; Insert driver CD that I made from the sb_install_multilang.rar and choose "Drivers only" and reboot; then update to the evil383 drivers and install the slimpak. Will that work and give me 4 speaker sound? I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Edit: I have the Audigy 1.

The "evil383" is a standalone set, you don't need to install the drivers that are in sb_install_multilang.rar.
After installing the SlimPak, you can change speaker presets via the surround mixer.
