Scenario:
Just upgraded video card (HD3200XT --> 5750) Just updated ATI 9.9 to 9.11 Everytime I boot up my computer, my sound drivers are gone. I have to manually install them everytime I boot. that's basically it. Driving me NUTS. The drivers are SoundMAX 6.10.2.6030 <--- Specs over there I'm about to throw my computer out the window! Does ATI 9.11 have compatibility issues with this sound crap I should know of?? |

Re: I want to murder my sound board.
Still driving me nuts. Still no sound when I reboot or wake up from sleep mode
MUST KILL AUDIO BOARD. ADI and soundmax websites proved absolutely useless... Last edited by MitchRapp; Nov 25, 2009 at 01:56 PM. |

Re: I want to murder my sound board.
Hi MitchRapp,
Have you tried disabling the "ATI High Definition Audio Device" in your Device Manager and restarting? I've had problems with this enabled alongside my Soundcard. Give that a shot and see if the situation improves! cause_of_chaos

Re: I want to murder my sound board.
i hate ADI/Soundmax onboard.. i've quite frequently had similare issues... it's just terrible driver and overall support. Reason i've always stuck with realtek motherboards, yes the onboard audio is a major factor in my choice of motherboard i get.
I'd suggest removing/disabling the onboard sound completely and seeing if things work properly.. if so, then perhaps if you can getting digital speakers ... logitech make a set of really decent cheap usb speakers that has it's own audio controller. I think you can pick them up for 15 bucks.

Digital USB speakers... haven't thought of that .... are they good for gaming? I'm currently using some pretty cool Logitech ones

Re: I want to murder my sound board.
Actually wasn't expecting much but presented with vista/win7 and those speakers, they work VERY well, nothing amazing but quite surprised myself when i played with them.
