??? Need advise: Will X-Fi Fatlity do the job?

Hi-ho...

I have recently connected my XBOX to my MOBO thru SPDIF-Coax (In) in order to use my PC's 5.1 speakers (Letting the on-board card pass the signal to the speakers).
Unfortunatly, my on-board can only recieve stereo-in and cannot recieve Dolby 5.1 (Xbox format).

So, I've been thinking about buying THIS card, that will sure bring a punch into my gaming experiance, but it is not it's main purpose...
Question: Will the X-Fi know know to pass the 5.1 signal from the XboX to the speakers? or will it too, recieve stereo only?

O.K., thanks all for all the wonderful answers.

I know have the answer myself, after buying the card...

So: The card cannot decode Dolby Digital. which means, it will not accept the incoming digital input form the XboX, only Stereo.

Big dissapointment, a 230$ (In Israel) card and it cannot recieve Dolby Digital (It can output-it though).

For you'r knowledge

that's odd, most CL cards since the SB Live! have been able to decode AC-3/Dolby Digital, as long as the option is selected in the control panel

for that matter, many onboard solutions also have that option, it just has to be enabled

Generally you are correct, but with this card it's different.
People all over forums are complaining about this.
Such a pricey card with less features than it's predescessors...

Actually, the Dolby-Digital Input is only enabled in XP. something about Directsound not beeing in Vista/7, and enabling it make the card HOG the resources...
damn it...
