Hi everyone, I'm having a great struggle with my PCI X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro audio card, I just can't make it work on x86 (32bit) XP.
After installing Creative drivers, I always end up with 'There are no supported audio devices available. You need to close the application. Click ok to close the application now.' when launching any Creative applications, like Audio Control Panel, Volume Control, Launcher, AutoUpdate, etc. In Device Manager under Sound-, Video- Gaming Controllers 'Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)' shows up with exclamation mark in yellow circle, entering Properties of it reads 'Device cannot start (error code:10)', which is basically a driver related problem according to Microsoft KB. In Control Panel/Sound and Audio Devices, every options are grayed out, saying 'No audio device'. Everest Ultimate recognizes the card as 'Creative CA20K1 X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity Audio Processor' which is the same for X-Fi XtremeMusic AFAIK, also, strange thing is, product number of my card (SB0460) is the same as XtremeMusic's. (XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro is supposed to be SB0466 or SB046A) Tried to insert the card in 4 different PCI slots, disabled my onboard Realtek AC97 in bios, and removed all leftovers between two driver install attempts with Driver Cleaner Pro and Sweaper, also cleaned and defragged registry. So my question is: Has any of the XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro or XtremeMusic owners experienced such 'No device' problem as I described above? If so, could you pls tell me a solution for it? I'm also looking forward to the response of those who have/had any of those two cards and had no problems at all installing their drivers! Which drivers did you use, how did you install it, from where did you get it, stuffs like that. So, dear XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro and XtremeMusic owners, pls share your experinces! PS. I also tried various PAX drivers, no luck, same result as with official creative drivers. The card did work for a friend with win7 for about half an hour-hour or so, then misteriously stopped working. |

Re: X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro and XP
Thanks for the reply, JRosenfeld!
Yes indeed, I tried Daniel_K's X-Fi Support Pack 2.0, and it gave me the 'no supported device found' error messege right at the beginning of the installation process, and then the application closed...I'm starting to think the card is faulty, but then how could it worked for half an hour or so for a friend a few days ago on win7 x64? Have you or anyone heard of repairing malfunctioning audio cards, is that possible at all? I'm still looking forward to the experiences of those who ever used XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro or XtremeMusic cards, either if it worked for them (how did you make it work, with what drivers on what machine, etc) or if they faced with a similar problem like me! (whether they solved it in the end or not) |
