Laptop digital out

Hey,
I'm ordering a new laptop before i go to university
i have logitech Z-5500 speakers and the problem is I don't want to use the heaphone jack-to-jack connection to get sound from them as it's pretty low quality
I was just wondering if there are any USB-to-digital out products or if you think it's worth getting a good jack-to-jack cable?

If you're going to order a new laptop, why not go for one that has an optical out? They're not very uncommon nowadays.

I've been looking into it and I can only find one laptop which seems to support it!
Do you know any that do?
My only two requirements in a laptop are that it's around £700-750 and that it has a digital output for it's audio

My Toshiba laptop has an optical out and I got it in February for about £650 - a500-17x.

Have a look around in Currys - they're pretty good for laptops lately. Also, check out http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/
