SB Live!/KX Front Panel Headphone Configuration Help?

Hello,

I'm having trouble getting my ASrock AOD790GX motherboard configured so that I can get front panel headphone audio output as well as spdif output to my 5.1 home theater set up.

The motherboard has onboard Realtec Audio, but no separate spdif output. There is a spdif header on the motherboard that I've connected to the CD_spdif header on my SB Live! card ((CT4760 10K1 (e800)). With the onboard audio disabled I get output to my 5.1 setup but no front panel output.

I am totally baffled by the complexity of the KX interface and need help to do what appears to me a fairly simple thing.

Can anyone Help?

By "front panel" are you talking about a "live drive" connected to the SB4760 or a headphone jack connected to the motherboard?

Also I'm a little confused as to why you are using the motherboard audio at all, wouldn't it be cleaner to just use the Live! card? Where are you connecting your speakers?

Re: SB Live!/KX Front Panel Headphone Configuration Help?

Tyrsonswood, thanks for your response.

Answers to your questions:

o The front panel is a "live drive" connected to the SB4760.

o The digital output from the rear panel of the SB Live! card is connected to a digital input of a Theta Digital Casablanca III Music & Cinema Controller.

o I'm was using the motherboard spdif output because, well, I was confused. Think I read about it online somewhere and kind of locked in on it.

Once I disconnected the cable from the motherboard to the SB Live! card, shut down all the internal audio output in the bios, and reinstalled the KX drivers things seem to be working nicely. Configured with no speakers, looks like I'm getting generic spdif output from the rear panel to my dsp, and awesome surround sound-like headphone output.

So thanks again for your reply!
