I/O Drive SB0010 & SB0110 conn. with X-FI Fatality Pro PCI

...

Hi...

I ha readed a lot in the net over this theme.

Connecting Audigy EX I/O Drives on a X-FI, but something made me reasking the hole thing.

Bec. the Pins arre mirrored. And, if i look on several Pin-Out Lists, then i see discrepances between the I/O Drive Pins and X-Fi Pins.

Also two dead pins are on a different place. (It's clear, that Pin1 is Pin1, but on the X-Fi i can't find any numbers. But i see the space between the two pin-blocks. So i think, it hase to look the same way. But there are, like i said, discrepances betweens the effectiv pins. Not only at the bigger pinblock, also at smaller one. So i ask me, if i have to take a special cable, or if i can connect it only with the 1:1 IDE Cable, (it comes with the i/o Drives. And this one, from the SB0110 is a 50 Pin cable, and it goes first to a second Modul in the PC, a sided SlotModul, and from there goes a Centronics out, which cable goes one side to the midi for Joystick and the other goes to the tablemodul SB0110.

I can give you here some fotos, so you can see, which i have.

1. SB0010 Creative Soundblaster Audigy EX bei ricardo.ch i bought for 14.- Sfr.

2. SB0110 Creative Labs Audigy Platinum 5.1 inkl. Inspire 5.1 Speaker bei ricardo.ch i bought with insipre 5300 for 27.- Sfr.

Now... i think, that the both cards are the same. But the connections are only different, that the platinum has included in the flat cable the connection for the JoystickMidiConnector, like i said before.

If there is somebody, who can give me clear advices. Bec. i saw so many different Threads, that i don't knnow, which is true.

But i think, that now, i'm one the right place. Here are peoples, which helped to many other peoples, who had the same problems.

PS. first i ment, that these are Audigy 2 cards. But, before i saw, these are just Audigy 1 Cards, and the I/O Drives also. In my opinion, it could really be, that this changes something. (As i thought, bec. of these different pins).

Thanks to all of you for helping me with this problem.

I wait a long time, that io can switch with my 5.1 between the PC's so i bought these I/O Drives. Perhaps i can't use them, without a Workaround. I hoped, it workes without.

If there are only some things, which won't work, i could life with, if i don't use them really.

We see...

Thx.

...

PS. I can't speak so good english. I hope, i wrote it, that you know, what's the meaning my problem. And i hope i understand what you write.

Thx.

...

Edit1:

I have a Logitech X-530 and between PC's a 4 Port KVM Switch with Audio and Mic. It means. i don't need the Mic on Frontpanel of the I/O Drive.

I have it over the KVM Switch.

And the Headphone Connector is on the Logitech Volume-Control. It means, i will not use it in drive bay. if this would be the only one Problem.

Yeah, I think you have Audigy (1) gear there with the AUD_EXT header, which is the early form of the 40 pin header. (if you look, it will have AUD_EXT printed on the cards and on the internal I/O drive)

Audigy 2 and later, including some X-Fi cards I believe, had the AD_EXT which is physically turned around AND many pins are in different places.

These two interfaces are not compatible, even with a custom cable I don't think you can get all functions to work. (I've never done it but have read that some functions are not available) You are better off not trying to mix these parts. Either get a later I/O drive and all it's cables or use these setups as is.......

I run the Audigy SB0090 cards and they sound great.... Granted there's no Win7 support other than KX drivers for the older cards.....

I hope that answers some of what you were asking.

AW: I/O Drive SB0010 & SB0110 conn. with X-FI Fatality Pro PCI

Hmm... But what i can't understand is this... look on the two threads, the pisctures from the Pin-Out.

SB Live! & Audigy Pinouts

Soundblaster Live!, Audigy 1/2 and X-Fi* Pinouts

Or missinterprete i something there...

PS. I have a 4 Port DualView KVM Switch and two 24" CRT's on it. Sony FW900 and Sun FW9010 Same inside. (And i have a reserve FW900).

I thought, i make from a old Printer Switch a Audio 5.1 Box, so i can change the analog Sound between the PC's.

I have this PrintSwitch > http://www.smartredirect.de/ad/click...px%3Fid%3D3246

And here are two How-To's: The first one is with my SwitchBox. The second is an other way...

I have upstairs a Z5500 which has add. Coax and optical Output. With these I/O Drives, i could make it connect one PC through coax.

I thought, it would be also nice, for connecting the TV. I make it now over a Y- 3.5 > Coax Adapter. But there is a noise in TV. I don't know, if it's bec. of my old SoundStorm on my A7N8X Deluxe. One my newer 2 PC's i have inside Creativ Onboard Audio (Life-Chip) But add. X-FI's. And, if i change the working PC to a newer, (i should make it since looong time), perhaps i can make it a different way, looking Films on my TV. It's a 36PW9767 Philips. with 160W Music. The TV has Wireless Sourround Boxes and the TV has a Digital In, (SPDIF-In) and so i thought, i can make it like this, so i would have perhaps also 5.1 Sound from films. But i'm not sure, if this would really work.

In the main, there should be a possibility to connect the TV without the Y Adapter, and a SPDIF Out, for later connecting the Z5500.

In Time i will make a new PC, perhaps Bulldozer or I1155. I will see, when tests from AMD are out. Now i'm driving also with 2 939 Systems. One X2-3800 @ 3Ghz with 280SLI. And the other (Same @ 2750 wirth an 285.)

I think, the best would be, sell all these components and change to a new System, ... i'm sure, with that money from all thhis mats i could by a new one. Memory is so cheap in the Moment.

In 939 i have in each PC 2x1 DDR500, and in one add. 2x512 MB. On the Toledo, the second Mem-Slot are not working with this CPU.

Yaya... PC Hardware...

If there is a easy way to make this work. It should only work for SPDIF Out and Analog Out. The Mic and all -In's have not to work.

...

Can you look on the to links (pictures), it looks the same. What is the diff there? Or do i make a fault in reading this?

...

The AD_EXT pinouts aren't showing on those links because the link to them seems to be dead, all I'm seeing is a broken link icon. As far as what you are planning (I'm not 100% sure) I wouldn't try to send audio, either analog or COAX from downstairs to upstairs (or the other way around) without some kind of buffer amp setup which would get rather involved. Sounds like it's quite a distance.

Back to getting those Audigy 1 parts working with the X-Fi..... you may be able to get some of the functions working and maybe the ones you need but not a fully functional I/O drive. (from what I've read.... and that was several years ago) Or it may be better to re-sell them and get the proper unit.... not sure what the market is like where you are, but here on eBay just the I/O drives for audigy and audigy2 sell for about the same...... complete setups the audigy2 is not much more than an audigy(1). If I'm not in a hurry and check all the listings I could get either for reasonable prices.
