No sound from Dell 3000
I am working on a Dimension 3000 and the sound is not working. This is what I have done:
Replaced the speakers with small usb powered units that are known working Re-installed the audio drivers from Dell(Legacy audio and Soundmax Integrated) checked all settings in CP/device mgr This is an XP Home os with 1 gb ram. It does not play music from the cd or systems sounds, but I do hear a hiss from the speakers when I increase the volume. BTW, it does not have a sound card, just the mb pci Thanks |

Re: No sound from Dell 3000
you said USB speakers?
if you use USB speakers... that bypasses the built in sound on the dell and uses the sound device on the speakers (may need to install software for it though).. go into the sound device manager in the control panel.. and make sure that the primary sound device is set to the USB one and make sure it's not muted and make sure the volume is up.. Maybe even disable the dell sound first to see.. Otherwise you may have to consult dell's website for more information.. When it comes to sound devices in windows xp..... sometimes they don't all play well.. for example installing a set of headphones or a webcam has shown to royally mess up the other sound devices in a strange way..
