Help choosing a headset

I have recently (over the last several months) been planning to get a new headset and have been 'ordered' to finally pick one as a birthday present.

I use an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 with onboard sound at the moment. My options were buying a decent soundcard and mid-range headset, or getting a high end USB headset with built-in soundcard - which is the option I decided to go for.

So I've been looking for a 5.1/7.1 (virtualised) USB headset with built-in soundcard and two caught my eye.

Razer Megalodon
SteelSeries 7H USB

Could anyone offer any recommendations on these two, or indeed recommend anything else which is similar/suitable?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: Just a quick note, I have read the reviews on these and it hasn't really helped me make any choice between them.
