XFi and Sub Woofer jack where ?

I have tried to plug my self-powered sub woofer into the sound blaster but it seem like it does not support a stand alone woofer. I have it in the 2.1 setup but the .1, or that part the sub woofer part does not have a speaker icon in set up. I only see it if I go to the 5.1 set up and still I can not find an out where to plug in the woofer. I did have the woofer working with the two speakers about a year ago, but I don't have a clue why it's not working now. Any ideas on whats going on with it? I have always had a hell of a time with sound cards.
If I plug the woofer into the port for the two PC speakers the sound goes to the sub, its like I only have the one port is working. I see in the manual which port to attach the sub too that being 4 or the orange plug but nothing.
