Audigy 2 ZS Platinum in Windows 7 - sound only when SPDIF is selected

Hey guys,

In an effort to get sound on my computer, I spent the whole day installing and uninstalling drivers (constant BSOD's from SoundMax) and finally realized that there IS sound coming from my Audigy's only when I select SPDIF.

I am running a Dell 4600, 2.66 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, Windows 7 32bit, standard 2.1 speaker system with one minijack.

I have tried plugging in the minijack to all three of the minijack plugs on the card and I get no sound when SPEAKERS is selected in Windows. I only get sound which I choose SPDIF. I've attached a screenshot.

Currently, there are no other sound drivers on the computer (I had to uninstall SoundMax as smwdm.sys was BSODing my computer all day long). Under device manager, sound, I see only: Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS and Multimedia Audio Controller.

Why is this happening? I believe that I am unable to have some options because I can't select SPEAKERS...right?

Thank you for your help.
