Current Project

Just thought I'd share my current audio-related project with you folks. Rather fun.

Technics SA-EX310 5.1 Surround Dolby Pro Logic-equipped Amplifier for PC audio.
The home theater-type amp is 70-watt per channel (350 total) and retailed for
around $250.00 USD in 1997 (it was Wal-Mart price-range type of amplifier)
The Logitech Z-5500's amp was 65w x4, 69w x1 & 188w x1 for the 6 speakers.

I'm going to put these speakers on the EX310 now. (Logitech amp is messed up)
Speakers [Logitech Z-5500, 65-watt satelites, 69-watt center, subwoofer cont'd]
Subwoofer: DUAL XPA2500 300-watt bridged stereo amplifier, Z-5500 (188w) sub
(using a very old PC power supply to run it [10-11 volt] max, need more juice!)

It sounds better than the Z-5500's amp made it sound out-of-the-box already.
The only things keeping me from being done with this already is space on my desk
& an issue with the amp's headphone jack, I will be making custom front panel
mic/headphone jacks with volume controls to make up for the X-Fi's lack of them.

I have to have the PC off and I've been reading news about post-SOPA events.
So that's why I haven't. ^^; Will be finishing this project & taking photos in the A.M.

NOTE: The pictured images are not my own, they are merely the same make & model as my devices.
The image of the sub amp & computer PSU was originally two images, cropped together in MSPaint.
Costs: Technics SA-EX310: given to me, Z-5500: bought new
on sale for $250 in 2004, DUAL XPA2500: $30

Re: Current Project

Welp. That didn't happen, months later and upon trying the original Z-5500 amp out of boredom after many failed attempts before, it's now working fine after almost 3 weeks of near-constant use. wtf
