Linking is ok as long as you link here: http://www.forgotten-realms.cfl.pl/other/torturecity/

Slimpak is a customised basic set of creative apps, providing every actually useful feature of CT's apps and a few useless ones as well (although much less of those than the standard package). Those apps cause less problems than the standard A2 set.

WDM Drivers

Hey guys ! I have just updated my Audigy 2 with new one posted here, I believe it is the version 402. It works flawlessly after patching the drivers with 'ctcomp' Thought I let you guys know. In the Device Manager it shows version 402. My question is Is this the ZS WDM drivers ?

I still don't see the point in installing these if you can't use the new apps. yet, and the only benefit is an updated driver build.

But after updating the driver build I found the sound to be astonishingly great. Wow ! you have to listen to believe it. Frankly, I don't give a damn for the other applications. The sound is far more superior to the Audigy 1 or 2. My complete collections classical music appears to be clear and distinct.

Are you sure? I mean it could be you expect an improvement in sound so your ear/mind maybe playing tricks on you to think it actually sounds better. My reasoning is that w/ my current setup there hasn't been any issues what so ever.

Bah, most "features" CT's apps provide are bloatware BS that additionally resample everything to 16bits 48KHz. Including CMSS, Speaker Calibration and other useless crap.

@purush: Have you got any proof of your claim? I mean ABX results. Because sound card drivers don't work in a way that could impact the sound in such a way, unless it's an intentional distortion (yes, distortion) or a serious bug. When playing back music, the PCM stream should be simply passed to the DAC without any processing. So chceck your placebo and verify that no CMSS BS is turned on.

Is there something else? There are boards like Hydrogen Audio that ban people making unsupported claims about one devices superiotity over another (this includes different lossy compression algorithms, different device drivers, software decoders etc).
I'm not responsible for those links. The ftp is online though.

Dear Necrosis !

As an avid listener of classical music my ears are attuned to the depth, it's intensity and richness in recognizing every sound produced by each of the many instruments that combine and sychronise into a symphony in all its variations and movements so that even a fractional distortion can cause my eyebrows to knit in frustration. I have a B & O sound system on the wall, but when reproduced on the computer I can hardly notice the difference. In essence the drivers for ZS on Audigy sound good. I am ecstatic.

Hey, the next time you want to cross post a link between forums the least you could do is ask the person that is hosting the file if its ok to do so.

Depends. If Audigy2 ZS uses similar DSP as Audigy1/2, then yes.

This driver does not support EAX4. It has been clearly stated on CT's website that EAX4 support will be avalible through a driver update, probably on the entire Audigy line.

Installed fine with an Audigy2 platinum .....lil better quality sound ...not much .....so IMO not worth the upgrade (does show the card correctly now though)

Somehow I doubt Creative will give the earlier Audigy users EAX4 support, otherwise there would be only a couple reasons to upgrade to the ZS cards. I'm sure the earlier ones could be hacked to support it though...

Actually EAX4 support was announced officially for the entire Audigy line, so unless they've changed their minds...

Hacking a driver in such a way would require very good debugging and assembly knowledge.
The U-PAX or whatever that was called employed NO reverse engineering skills.

I remember Crative promised that they would develop new driver to enable Audigy /Audigy 2 to support EAX4.0

Kewl, hopefully Creative will support the Audigy1/2. I really hope I'm wrong on this one.

Well they work fine on an sblive 5.1 Plat. But you cannot choose the input source on the live drive except for recording purposes only.
