Are they official from Creative by Creative? or are they official from Compaq by Creative?

(trying not to confuse myself...)

I don't have the required webspace, but I'm really interested in getting those drivers. What about sharing them with eDonkey or some other sharing utility until you find some space?

These drivers are official from Creative and I believe they are also WHQL certified (not sure). They are supposed to be and updated version of the Compaq drivers, but they might be the same thing (i'm not sure)....

a 670 meg image file is not really hostable. there are other files I have at this size I could have released to the public if I thought this was viable... I dont think anyone could cope with a file that size .... if anyone wishes to talk to me about this im on MSN messenger, contact name zardonthemystic@hotmail.com

Lots of languages, plus some other stuff that could probably be dropped.

Remember, Creative are supposed to have a download available soon - though what they'll leave out is anyone's guess.

Got mine today - loaded it - GREAT!
Supports Win98/ME and Win2k/XP

The apps are quite nice, and it works fine with my 4780 (Live Value)

Yep that cd is the official

this is the link for it

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp2...00/SP20920.exe

look in the setup dir after extracting and remove the CToem.cfg file if you remove that than you have the official driver cd by creative.

spike, are those the compaq ones? cause that is dated 4/30. Just looked kind of like you were saying those were the official creative release but I don't see how they could be with that date....

Got the CD - installed fine on 98SE

Now looking for better soundfonts (free only, blowed if I'm buying them!)

The supplied one is only 4Mb - the stingy sods didn't even put the 8Mb on there.

No problem (those against download abuse should cover their eyes!)

http://www.emu.com/products/aps/downloads.html
Download "E-Control" - WITH 8Mb E-MU GM soundfont bank

Start Install, when files are prepared, look in your TEMP area for the Soundfont (.sf2)
Copy it somewhere, and then cancel the install.

Now you can install the 8Mb soundfont using AudioHQ, or one of the alternative tools from one of the SB Live fansites.

Those compaq drivers are the same as the official driver cd of creative. You only need to remove that CToem.cfg file out of the setup dir. The drivers that creative brings out now are the same. Creative just released the Live drivers that are the same as on the cd and in August Creative will release the Audigy drivers and that are also the same as on the cd. So if you download that files and remove that single file than you have the official Creative driver cd.

hehe.... you want a really cool soundfont huh? Do a search in google for the "fluid soundfont"... hehe..... that soundfont kicks any other soundfonts ass (its a whopping 70mb download zipped and sfARKed ). Uncompressed, it is 144 mb . Needless to say, it sounds awesome except for people with less that 512 ram .

sounds so awesome that I sometimes find myself listening to midi just as much as my mp3s

One word of advice though: Creative drivers keep the soundfont loaded into your memory ALL THE TIME, so it is not practical to choose fluid as your main soundfont unless you are playing a game that uses midi or something (unlikely). However, if you use winamp and you want it to be on ONLY when you are listening to your midi files through winamp, check out this thread: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/thread.php?id=672

Awww! -- I thought my 384Mb was BIG - (3 x 128 Mb PC133 sticks in a PC100 system) the old AMD750 chipset - NO VIA BUGS!

Been to a few sites - found one 15Mb "ultimate" that gets a reasonable review, but can't remember where I saw a 64Mb (unpacked) one that was very good, but had the 32Mb problem with the old drivers.

I downloaded the drivers from Compaq did the install, everything went fine.
I unistalled the old drivers and sofware completely. With the new install I chose to install everything but Playcenter and the onlie documentation.
My question is how do remove the creative splash screen and sound every time I start WIN XP. Pleasse someone help me this splash screen and sound cause my start up time to be longer.

Thanks Pete
