New soundcard season!

Well I'm in the market for a new soundcard. Currently I'm sporting the SBLive! Value card. I'ts been my friend since 98/99. But the time has come to lay it to rest.

Now My question to all you audiophiles is: Is Creative planning to release a new card anytime soon? If so I might wait on purchasing an Audigy 2. So what say you? Audigy 2 or wait for new hardware to be available?

Actually Creative released a revamped version of the A2 not very long ago. It's called the Audigy 2 ZS.

I think have a good sound system is more important than the soundcard. I only upgraded to the soundstorm from the audigy for the MUCH better positional audio support. I have hardware EQs, and amps that do all my audio processing, I avoid as much sound card processing as possible.

i love my hercules fortsiimo III 7.1 card. and if your all about the firewire, you can get the digifire 7.1 (same card, just has a firewire port) hercules sound is great

Audigy2 ZS is OK, but it's price is too big for what it offers (at least in Croatia so far).

Game playing - Audigy 2 or 2ZS (you'll notice over the Live 5.1 with a good amp and speakers).

Music and DVD - M-Audio Revolution (quiet, clean musical sound - does support gaming of course but not as well as the Creative card above).

Or both!

Conjecture: May be tricky to configure both cards to work together in Windows though...
