Luck is on a distinguished road

Audigy 2 soundcard problems.

Okay, I used this program called "Driver Cleaner" from this site.

I clicked on the "Creative" one and cleaned out my Creative files..

Now when I go to install a driver, Windows doesn't detect a soundcard.

Can someone help me, please?

I also don't have system restore turned on.

Check in the windows device manager and see if the card is listed. If it is you may have to delete the drivers that are listed and restart your system. If not right click on something and click on "scan for hardware changes". Also.....did you uninstall the drivers before you ran driver cleaner?

Ha, no, I didn't.
I pulled a Crusty The Clown.

Let me see if this works. So I scan and then install?

Edit* okay, that didn't work. Let me try uninstalling the rest. Then rebooting and trying to install again.

I still have the "Creative" files on the computer...

Drivers fro mthe CD

I got the sound working, but now I can't install the software..it says it doesn't detect it.

I can't even scan for updates..says the drivers are corrupted.

sounds like you have some major screw up's there. There could be something more messed up somewhere else. Hate to ask this.....but when was your last clean install? Just for information purposes.

Like last week.

Keep in mind, the thing that caused this problem was the Driver Cleaner. It deleted the DLL. files I guess.

Did you uninstall the creative drivers and programs first before you used driver cleaner?

What you can do is uninstall all the creative programs and than goto device manager and select the creative card than right mouse button and select uninstall. Than delete the creative folder in the program files folder. Reboot and put the creative cd in and run setup. That should fix it. Also please answer the question i asked.

No, I did not uninstall the programs first.

I can't even uninstall the programs, they don't show up on the "add/remove" screen.

I can't delete the creative folder because it says it's being used or is wright protected.

*Edit* it says "Cannot delete CTDVDET.exe acces is denied"

HA! I'M SO CLEVER!

I disabled it and was then able to delete it.

Okay, so I did that. I restarted it and then I it installed itself..I had to UNINSTALL IT AGAIN, but it's still not working.

It's not detecting the card..weird, because I get sound, right? But I'm trying to install the software for it so I can change the volume, etc.

It is indeed wierd that you have sound. There is also a program on the cd CTZAPXX.exe in the drivers folder. If oyu run that you can select like uninstall drivers or overwrite them. Try uninstall and than goto the device manager and see if it is still there. If it is still there and it looks like it is installed than right mouse button on it and select uninstall. Than restart in safemode and install them again. After that you can install the apps normal because it should reconize the card.

Hey Luck...

I know what your problem is but I can't find the solution but it's buried in this forum some where. There is a registry value you need to change in your registry so the drivers will see you have the card installed. If anyone can remember where this is please post it. I need to get ready for work.

You can use the cd-drive in safe mode?
