2 Mic Inputs

I realise this is probably a noob question but I havent been able to find a definite answer yet. I was looking at purchasing this cable adapter http://www.audiogear.com/cgi-bin/sho...&preadd=action and connecting 2 mics. Will it be possible to separate the input from each mic to different tracks in cubase/cakewalk by routing the L in and R in to defferent asio channels? Is it possible to record 2 mono tracks from the ac97?

Might work but I haven't tried it. It also depends on the soundcard; my DMX 6fire has stereo support on Mic In (at least there are two sliders in drivers), but Audigy2 OEM doesn't seem to have one.

Thanks for the reply RIV@NVX

I know that the mic in is in fact a stereo input, but I wasnt sure if that Y cable would have the mic split into L and R, or would they BOTH be going to L and R.

Well, I can't be 100% sure about that; you will have to risk a bit, sorry.

For anyone who was curious, I bought that cable (the link in first post) and it arrived yesterday. Lo and behold! It didnt work. I may have to make one, where both lines from one are send to the tip and both lines from the other are send to the sleeve (or is it ring?). Either way, dont buy THAT one if you are trying to do the same thing I was.

Hmmm. Well, as it turns out these cables DO work. I messed up when I plugged one of them into the mic in (which on SB0090 is mono I think). So anyway, I can record up to 6 mono inputs to seperate tracks. Took a while to get there though. yay!

So, if card mic input is stereo, it is splitted correctly?

Yes. For example; if I plug that adapter into the line in, I can record each mic on seperate tracks. One mic comes through the left and one through the right, which is exactly what I wanted.
