Hey,

I've been having some sound problems with my GTA games... everytime I play it changes my 5.1 settings to 4.1 or 2.1
this is really annoying and I can't play like this,Im connecting my Audigy 2 card to my stereo receiver and I odnt get LFE/Subwoofer signals at 4.1 or 2.1 so it sends all the sub signals to all my speakers..this can damage them too, I've tried minimizing the game to change it but it always switches it back...any one ever experience this or know how to stop it?

I tried everysingle setting. it never allows me to use 5.1 mode :-/

It's because the game simply doesn't behave well. Some games are like that and the poor quality coding of the recent GTA games is well documented. I don't think there's anything us users can do about that.

dang thats strange though...I used to play GTA series on my 5.1 multimedia speakers I think this has to do with the sound card which is used too..It worked pretty well on my santa cruz card maybe the EAX on my Audigy2 has a hold on the speaker setting in the game ...damn now I cant play my fav game sux..

I have fixed this problem...In the Speaker Settings, I removed the tick for Synchronize with Control Panel and it worked.

Try re-installing the drivers, and run memtest86 atleast 30times, to see if it isn't your RAM or it could be your Audigy 2...

I think its my omega drivers or i have a virus( I tested for virus i got none) My RunDll.exe is acting weird though...

I have 512 MB PC2700 Ram and its fairly new,also my GTA:VC only works on omega .60 and .96A drivers all other upfates dont even start the game up

many of my other games work inlcuding GTA3 so I dout its my ram.Im going to try to put some new drivers in for my vid card.

i figured it out a while ago...

make a shortcut to ur gta vc, then goto properties, set the program to run with its own credintials im not my comp so i cant check it but if you know what im talking about do it. i was foolin with it and i get 5.1 surround no problem. setting to synch with control panel didnt work for me. if u dont understand ill make screens and directions

aight here

make a short cut on or desktop to gta vice city's exe if you dont have one

now on the shortcut, right-click goto properties and then goto the shortcut tab.

under the comment section you should see the button "advanced" next to "change icon" click advanced

now you should be in advanced properties, put the checkmark ON the "run with different credentials" box. press ok and ok again to close everything now run gta vc it should stay in 5.1 mode thats i what i figured out

Hey it worked! well kinda..

I installed the latest ATI dirvers( it NEVER works on the latest drivers) After I followed your advice it opened ..but I got an error "un handled exception at adress 0000XXX)

I think I have a sleeper virus on my system...i detected it last time now I cant see it.. any way thanks for the help Pimp im gonna try thison GTYA3 now

whoa... I beg to differ Mafia's sound is SiCK, I dont think I will need this mod with mafia because I love the sound just the way it is I get true 5.1 already so its not neccesary for this

I tried the mod just now with GTA3 and i have to deselect "protect my files" to get it to work with your mod,I get 4 speaker output but no sub ..I think I can fix that later on.

yea man no prob

ive had terrible issues with mafia's sound till i tried that little trick
then i check mafias support for something else and i saw that fix was there. so i figured out myself basically lol

im using omegas cat 3.9, 4.1 should give no problems either

use the driver cleaner negative... that might help

I used the cleaner many times..it didnt help...my games freeze all the time now..even counter strike tis really sucks...

when the game is freezing, does this occur after a few seconds into running ANY game. like 10-60 seconds comp just locks up

After a couple mins... sometimes random, on CS is random on Need 4 speed UND its give me BSOD after I win a race...
I get BSOD on GTA:VC after playing for 10 mins(only works on .60 and .96 drivers) and etc..

if you havent tried using the omega drivers try them....

they fixed my problem when mine wouldnt let me play jack shizen!

I have been using the omega driver...lol my GTA:VC works with 2460 and 2496A thats what I meant earlier
I cant use any other drivers I have a 9500 card and im doing the softmod so I have no choice...unless there is an alternative to omega

well im not sure

but running vice city with creditials works. and this applies for gta3 and mafia.

it wont work for any game, i tried it on mgs2 and instead of fixing it i couldnt saave lol

I don't think the credentials have anything to do with one, its the drivers..or some other aspect im missing
The game doesnt start at ALL...with or without the credentials now some of my other games freeze mafia freezes now jeez..
I may have to give up soon.MGS2 freezes when a video is beeing played now too..lol I have to skip all movies ...

format ur comp if you can

but the 5.1 sound workaround is done by using credentials to run vice city. your video issues should be taken into the radeon display driver forum and scann your system for viruses
