Audigy2 ZS card making poping noise

About 2 months ago, I bought this card and loaded all the latest drivers. I was very satisfied with the sound it generated. Recently I am getting constant poping noise when playing music especially with Windows Media Player. It's worse with some music with heavy bass. I mean I had something like this when I pump up the bass frequency before but it's getting worse nowadays.

Do you have any idea what the problem is? This is my first Creative Sound Blaster card.

I recently formatted hard drive and clean installed WinXP and all the necessary drivers for my hardwares. I don't know if it has anything to do with this poping noise problem.
One more thing. When I play Red Alert 2 with in-game music on I lose all the game sound in a few minutes. If I play without the background music the game sound remains.

Anyone familiar with this kind of symptoms?

Thanks

1. What have you tried as far as say speakers/headphones?

2. Your game problem I don't have a clue what to tell you about that.

I don't have the game..have you tried different DSP settings (DirectSound/EAX) to see if it effects it?

You also might want to check around if there is any "issues" with the chipset drivers you installed for your motherboard. Sometimes if something works for you it's best to stick with it if nothing is improved.

tastyweat,

Is it exactly same problem? With Red Alert 2? If so, that's interesting.

If I turned off the background music by sliding the music volume all the way down to 0 in option menu, I get other in-game sounds no problem. I think it has something to do with playing music from the game CD.
