Default Post Mixer Volumes Are not In Sync?

Hi,

Got a really strange problem with my SB Audigy, read on:

First some tech specs: P4 system, running XP Pro, SB Audigy Gamer retail box (using the 5.12.01.0244 drivers), Klipsch PM 2.1's

About 2 days ago I started noticing that my Windows Mixer volume settings were not "in sync" anymore -- meaning that lets say I had the Mixer open and then I clicked on the volume control tray icon, and cranked up the volume... whereas before I could see the slider move on the Mixer in tandem with the tray one, now they were "disconnected"

This affects all apps: CD Player, Winamp, etc etc. Nothing is "connected" anymore. The volume itself is fine, and if I close and re-open the Mixer the volume level sliders have been updated. Its just frustrating because I often keep the Creative Mixer open while using other audio apps (CoolEdit, ProTools, etc) and now it is not always reflecting the current state.

OK now is where it gets a little strange: If I log out of my 'normal' user account and log in as Administrator, this all works fine. So I am leaning toward some strange registry setting being fouled up. But I have no idea where to begin looking for something like that. Is there some tool anyone knows of to diagnose these types of problems, or something that removed all Creative Labs registry entries, etc?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

You know what? I've noticed the same thing ..... I guess it doesn't really matter since it doesn't affect the volume... I mean, you can just open up the volume control or mixer again, can't you? I think this is a "feature " of the new drivers

Default Post But...

But what's wierd is that under the Administrator account, the problem disappears, meaning the problem is specific to something hosed in the "CURRENT_USER" registry branch, don't you think?

Well, I guess the problem is specific to the user that installs it... I haven't tried logging in as Administrator

Hey man... I just tried it.... and for some strange reason, its working on my regular account (not administrator) ....wtf? I guess its just a "sometimes and sometimes not" problem or something.... As long as it doesn't cause problems though, it doesn't bother me

Default Post fixed it....

FIXED!

downloaded (finally) the new ISO cd from eDonkey.... uninstalled current drivers, deleted all Creative folders, and deleted everything that said "Creative", "Creative Tech" or "Audigy" in my registry.

rebooted, installed new drivers, a couple more reboots, and everything is working 100% again.
man that damn creative and their registry problems... grrr.
well thanks for the help.

One question: why is this so irritating? i mean... it doesn't affect your computer or anything... it just doesn't look proper when you change settings (but the settings still get properly changed). i don't see why this is such a problem...
