Default Post Can one lock volume control in windows?

I hate programs, they always mess with my volume settings. PowerDVD XP turns my volume up, Playcenter screws with my bass and treble...argh. Is there any way I can "lock" volume, treble, bass, fader controls so that no programs can mess with em? That would make my day...

Oh, Creative SB Audigy be the card I be usin'.

I can't help you with powerdvd, but I can help you with general music listening. If you use winamp for playing back your regular music, you can go to the preferences and enable "directsound' and what that does is limit winamp's full volume to the volume you currently have set at that moment and rather than modifying the actual volume controls, it just amplifies/deamplifies the sound by itself so that no external settings are altered. I have seen this feature in Sonique2 also. I haven't really looked all that hard for it, so I can't tell you all the programs, but if you ever get a program that messes with your volume, look for that feature.

I never actually encountered such problems... Usually when playing DVD's with pDVDxp or WinDVD they would boost the main volume to the MAX, but after quitting the application the volume would return to its former setting... dallasstar's right 'bout the 'directsound' feature, and by default PowerDVD should use the DirectSound output (that's the case by me), so there shouldn't be any problems...
As for Playcenter... dunno, like I said, never happened...

btw. which drivers are you using; which Playcenter ver.?
