Default Post Success!

oK!
...cleaned the registry, removed everything from Creative, plugged the card in the 2nd PCI slot, and went right on to Compaq install... Everything went as if I was 3 days old and stroking my butt (smooth!)... Aw, I can't even remotely describe you the smile that came back on my face

Anyway, here's a pic of my Audigy, the incorruptible revision, not foretold by Creative:

Everything seems to work fine so far...
Have changed every PCI slot to see if there'll be any problems...
...'ve also tried adding HW after the Audigy - no problems encountered...
So, I guess this is def. a good ver. of the Audigy...

dEykeé, I see that you are from Croatia...
I was just wondering - where have you bought your Audigy, in which shop...
And where did they accepted to replace it?

LoL, welcome Dalmacijo!

...to answer you question: It's Comwear d.o.o. My friend's dad is the owner, so I guess that made a great deal in making it possible for the exchange... Dunno... ...but I'm sure you'll be able to replace it @ where you bought it, as long as you have a valid guarantee; but the problem is in waiting for the replacement card, it could take up to a month or so...

I just recieved new Audigy, too. It has 'missing cap' (to get this one in Croatia it is similar to win on lottery) I just have to try it out... It is only a slight different from dEykeé's one, because it has 1AA29JJ written on chip, it seems to be a bit newer than his one.
I just hope that it will work good as it is supposed to.

Conclusion - there is a certain revision (identified by number on chip) of Audigy that has this missing cap. My old one had 17****** serial and it didn't have it. So, I guess, that 18something or 19something were series with that cap on.

It is simple. Check for missing cap and number on chip (that one that is lastest line on chip).

I've just taken the card off the computer, and there's no cap like the one on the photo.... The model is: SB0090. My SoundFont refuses to work, and I don't know why... All help needed!

EDIT: My chip has a "sticker" over it... I just can't see the damm number, without breaking it....

As I mark here, I can't see the number in red, AND I DO NOT have that little "chip"...

So, you need to take Audigy out before adding new hardware (it is one of first revisions).
If you want to, you can try to RMA it.
And, BTW, most of Audigys out there have sticker SB0090, but some of them are CT0092 (my for example).

SoundFont is a file that contains MIDI samples.

Soundfonts are basically the Audigy's method of playing midi files. Like Rivanx said, they are basically a collection of musical sounds. The good thing about them is that you can change them whenever you like and get as high quality a soundfont as you like (with the sacrifice being RAM). Therefore, you can have a regular crappy midi sounding like an mp3 .

No, I am telling that sticker is not the only thing to thrust to.
You should not rip it, you will lose warranty.
