Well, you just might get lucky with that "Creative Labs Sucks!" reply, but only as far the Extigy goes...
![]() I still have it, but def. don't use it anymore, and believe me it's hard to sell it! Was all happy 'bout obtaining it, bought my speakers first and waited for Extigy... Finally it came, so I hooked it up to the USB and speakers and went on with the SW installed... Passed without any problems and was now ready to nJoy music... And then: SnapCrackle&POP!... oK, figured it must have something to do with the on-board USB controller, so the next day I bought a PCI USB 2.0 controller, but still there was some crackling when opening menus and scrolling through text... Eh, thought I'll do nothing while I'm listening to music, which kinda kills every thought of multitasking... The next disappointment was not being able to get a simple four sp. output on this thing - was stuck with either 2 sp. or with enabled CMSS (which was more than chaotic - terrible); I think I shouldn't even start with 'gaming experience'... I'm not even sure if I'd use it with a notebook... The DD decoding was good from time to time, but never did I watch a movie with no sound interruptions... Also, forget 'bout the 24/96 output and the 100dB SNR, it's all just a coverUp... The only thing remotely good is the new Zoran's decoding chip...Enough said, still gives me high blood pressure... Another 'external sollution' I used to own was the Microsoft's Digital Sound System 80... I was amazed with the quality it provided for a reasonable price... True, it was some years ago, but my friend still owns them (I sold them to him), and they just keep on working, without any defects over the years...

Yeah... there are actually quite a few "externals" out there... Abit... Microsoft... and i think ... Altec Lansing. (probably more :/ ). I know all about the Audigy/Extigy 24/96 cover up
. As for the crackling - i think thats system dependent :/. I've experienced that before and it doesn't seem to be related to the sound card... maybe the motherboard though . Ah well... if you're interested in selling that extigy - name a price. I've got some ideas for it and if the price is right ... i might just take it off your hands. - (don't read too much into that... i may or may not be needing it :/)

7.1...
Well hopefully it's done in hardware as Sony Dynamic Digital Sound or else you'll NEVER be able to use it without buying PowerDVD XP 4.0 AND it's respective expanded audio packs. Oh, and DVD's that support SDDS, which are almost none. |

I disagree when it comes to selling the card as they appear to be selling rather well on Ebay at the moment, maybe you should try selling it on that. As ppl still pay ridiculous money for the original sound blaster live platinum
