AUreal Vortex 8810 for winxp

hey everyone , my dad went out and purchased a Aureal vortex 8810 soundcard, but it will not install with XP. the drivers we got for it only goes as high as winME

are there drivers for this card, is Vortex 2 another card or is it simply drivers for the original vortex?

im sitll looking for the winxp drivers, but any input ould help

already tried that site , first one- no success BUT- its cool i did actually find a site it hthe drivers, the music played for a bit, butthen when we played another song it played for mabye 25 seconds, then boom it stopped dead, checked wiring all of that, it was all good- but the drivers were for winME, i cannot find an XP one, so we are going to return it, make an exchange or money back, i told my dad to snag a SB or somethin- audigy 1 or 2- pci 128 even, but he prob wanted to save a buck or two

he learned CPU lesson #(somethin) - cheap in price may reflect quality.

But to be honest.......I would take it back and get a REAL sound card. The Audigy 1 or 2 aren't really that expensive. When the card that you have FIRST came out.....it was about $200 from what I have seen on the net when searching for it.

Also from what I have seen.....you may be able to install the 8830 drivers for it.....there are XP drivers for it. I did notice that the WDM driver for it was the same for the 8810, 8820, and 8830.......so maybe the rest of the driver pack will work for your card as well.

try and find a Hercules card..... they are extremely cheap but very excellent....

yeah the sound now stops playing, it is on and off, we are running the 8810's - but im with you guys ofcourse grabbing an aud 1 or 2- anything other than old and out of date with drivers- cool guys thanks again!

just to note- DH is wicked

has helped alot! with the OC'ing, OD'ing (jks), ramming vid cards etc!

Go into your Profile>Edit Profile

And scroll down till you get to were you can input stuff into your "signature" box..... and set it to show every post...

If you want images like others have..... 400x100 is the max resolution size... and 35kb is the standard max.....

If you want.. some official signature makers can make you one if you request it.... just go to off topic and look at the stickies and post....

BTW.... You gonna consider Hercules?

well its not my decision on this one really- its my dads cpu- he doesnt play games that need that kind of sound

he plays Age of mythology (amazing game) and age of kings- and all in between- so, i would rather get it for my cpu hehe- its the gaming one- i was thinking audigy 2 or somethig - but please explain, your thoughts and opinions on hercules, just one thing though, i dont want 7.1- i like 2.1 speaks settup though,

Found a Win2000 version (so it said) at driverguide.

Not worth struggling with an old card, as you can get (if not too fussed) a cheap CMI- based card that is actually quite good - a lot of the cheap generics use the CMI8738 (6 channel) chip, as do some brand names as well. It's not a bad chip to have, as the results are much better than expected for a cheap card, and there's not much difference between the generic no-namers and the brand name cards.
