So iv been having problems with my radeon, figured out its on my end and not the card. Brought the card home over the weekend to teston different machines and it ran great on all games from vietnam, city of heroes and codename: panzer demo (which is awesome btw). Bring it back to campus and im suffering some odd problems. So i figured id uninstall the only pci card i have which is my audigy 2 and reinstall it. Radeon still seems to have some issues still, with or withotu audigy installed. I ran a few games with the augidy2 card uinstalled, and i had the same problems when i had the card in. Everything is kind of pixelated and i get white and black dots all over my textures and they jump and squiggle for lack of better word.
So now ur probably wondering well if it did the same with and without audigy what the crap u talkin bout being conflicts. Well the whole time i was playing with audigy card out, and augdigy card (without recent drivers) i had the squiggles but it was stable and ran smooth just had odd ass texture problems. But once i updated the drivers manually since autoupdate doesnt work ( i downloaded them extracted then ran that CTZAPXX ish) Now when i play any games i get the squiggles and i get crashes. Iv been having wierd problems with games for a while now sure people seen my countless posts. Before they were definite Radeon problems (artifacts, recurring problems, displaying same errors in different machines) but this time around it is a problem on my end. Iv come to think its one of two problems. 1) Bad power supply 2) Bad agp slot. I figure number one cuz my +12v rail runs at 11.491 which is okay i guess but my machine at home, which runs twice the stuff im running and is on nonstop runs at 11.971/12.001. The powersupply at home is a codegen 350w and mine is an antec 550w. My +5v rail runs at a 4.859 which is fine i guess, my +3.3v runs at 2.800 and my v cores stays between 1.8 and 1.6. So iv ordered a new powersupply to give it a shot, if it isnt a psu problem then ill just be SOL and have two good power supplys .2) agp slot problem if that is the case that is going to be the suck. Have to RMA the board and be outta a comp for a while then havta redo the whole machine, booo. And id havta wait till the semester ends and i get back from college. But iv tested with my geforce2 and i experience no problems or crashes whatsoever but that kind of an old card and doesnt run the same ish that the radeon does. So my last troubleshoot before ripping my hair out in frustration is to borrow my friends 9800pro and see if i still get problems. What you guys think? |

i'd say borrow the 9800 pro... if it reproduces.... then you have a serious Hardware conflict of sorts... Creative cards have a good tendancy to mess things up real bad.... Also.. it very well could be the power supply....

I definitely think your PSU is out of whack...is it the one you can adjust the rails on? Are you over clocking?

So i replaced the PSU today, all voltage running normal now. buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut im still getting crashes and the squiggles.
And to tasty: yeah its hard for me to recreate it in a screenshot it never shows up right, but ill keep tryng hopefully ill be able to snag it. So with this problem still being a factor after replacin the cpu, its down to it now being a bad agp slot, or there is a conflict somewhere that i gotta find. click here for a better picture of the problem any ideas? Nope not nice at all.
Anyways i went into event viewer to see if there were any logs of errors of the ish going down and i came upon this: "The driver ati2dvag for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates." Hmm ya |

Hmm I'm wondering if the issue maybe IRQ related. How does your tables look? Also have you also upgraded your 97KPro's drivers recently with the sound card drivers? You also might want to reinstall DirectX 9 & your agp driver too.

So i borrowed my friends 9800pro today and installed it and drum roll..................yeah im still getting same exact error. So im starting to fret its a bad agp slot. anyone know any other way i can test for that?
One thing Intel 82801EB Universal Host Controller is sharing the same IRQ as the radeon, but i do not know how to change the IRQ (this happens with either 9700 and 9800 and xp doesnt seem to allow u to manually change IRQ slots) |

Hmm you could try resetting the IRQ table in the bios & make sure you turn off anything you don't need. Serial ports for example.
