I have an audigy2
I folowed the guide and downloaded the 1cd version.
I ran the ctcomp.exe on E:\Filestorage\Audigy2zx\Audio\Setup and it said it worked I uninstalled everything and ran drivercleaner
I restarted and start.exe says I dont have an audigy2
I an cleaner again rebooted and ran CTZAPXX.exe It installed the 402 drivers but says its an audugy2 nozx
I rebooted twice as advised above and it still says I dont have an audigy2 (but I can hear sound)

Help please


Edit: I may have found the problem for some reason all the files in the audio directory were marked as read only. I will report back if things work now.

Edit: It worked. If anyone else has this problem the files are read only in the 1cd version of the audigy2zx cd I dont know about the 4 disk version.

It's pretty simple to make "Surround Mixer" and "EAX Console" from Audigy 2 ZS work on a SBlive.
After installing the applications from Audigy 2 ZS driver CD, all I had to do is copy the older versions files "SurMixer.exe" (Surround Mixer) and "EAXCon.dll" (EAX Console) from Audigy 2 driver CD.
The same thing is for "Speaker Settings" (with "SpkSet.exe"), but I don't advice to do it, becouse there are no big changes and it gives that error when application is closed, and other errors appears if "THX Console" is instaled.
I've hosted the SurMixer.exe, EAXCon.dll, hope link is fast:
Try it at your own risk. After you install "Surround Mixer" and "EAX Console" from Audigy 2 ZS arhive, copy the files from mixerEAX.zip to app's directory.

Both drivers are on the Creative download pages. I think the same file is in the Audigy, Audgy 2, and Audigy 2 ZS sections as they are unified for the Audigy (but not the Live) line. For the Live, you gotta CTZAPP them over themselves after the setup (ctcomp'd) reboots. Just read the descriptions regarding the EAX 4 update drivers. The older one is 441. You install that before installing the later 443 ones.

I already patched the folders I needed to patch with the ctcomp.exe.



I'm not sure but do I have to burn the CD and then run the START.exe in the CTRun folder?

Looks like this hasn't been updated in awhile and I can't find any other references on the net:

It's softmods for the SBLive! and Audigy cards to use most recent drivers.

Looks like they're promising EAX4 on Live cards (?)

I'm dubious. If it could, it would have to offload a lot to the CPU wouldn't it? Though with a 3400+ I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Anyone? My PC is down right now so I can't try it.

EAX3 and 4 on my old Live card would be bonus.

Somethings up with the 4 disk version. I kepted getting this error. I downloaded the ISO version and everything works great! Someone else please check the 4 disk version.

Ok, so now I took a deeper look and the article is mostly undecipherable (that I was talking about above). With more than a few bad links it's pretty much usless.

I guess what I'm fishing for is the answer to the question: Is it possible for some sort of hack to run EAXHD and/or EAX4 on an older Live card. I know it doesn't have the same power as the Emu10k2 cards, but in theory that just means it would have a large system impact.

Since it looks like Creative has the APU tied up tighter leagally than previous EAX, it means if you want them, you MUST buy Creative and it must be an Audigy. I was reading somewhere else that Nvidia wanted to put EaxHD on the Nforce2 Soundstorm, and that it had the power for it, but legally it wasn't possible.

That bugs me since more and more games are going EAX Advanced HD.

Heck, Thief3 ONLY has EAX3 and 4 with no fall back.

Anyone out there with l33t skilz capable of this feat?

Derp? I gotta take a look at that link. I couldn't find a darn thing of any value on it.
I know it talked about hacks for EAX3/4, but I couldn't find anything coherent.

Edit: Ok, I see, they talk about a few hacked driver alternatives. The only ones I can find links for and information about are the Youp-PAX drivers.

From what I can see the version V was the last one to be useful on SBLive cards, and even then they sounded pretty unstable (even if you do get EAX HD). There's a ZS 1.2 version that seems to be only useful for Audigy 1 & 2 and even then they sound pretty unreliable.

I will not be giving them a try. I'm not a driver daredevil; I have toasted too many systems in my life.

Oh well. I can dream about free EAX3 & 4 can't I? Can't I? Oh, nm.

Two options at installation are available: "Music" and "Music Pro". Some minor changes (texts and stuff).

My post was in "news" category, not related with EAX 3 or 4.
From what I know, on a SB live, you can obtain limited\some EAX HD 3 (maybe 4) features in .282-.283 drivers (noisy ones). Try them with UT2003-2004.

Ok, 3dmark03 kept telling me 60 sounds wasn't available on my soundcard.

(Again it's a Live 5.1 X-gamer sb0060)

Tried the driver updates here, everything seem to work great, but I STILL don't have the 60 sound test.

Anyone know if this is a SBLive issue or 3dmark03 issue, or what?

I see a few other people here having the same problem as I and so far nobody has seemed to help. I'm gunna bring this back on the table. I did everything. I patched the file on the 4 RAR files(that I extracted into a directory). I go to install...annndddd...it says I dont have an Audity 2 ZS, and wont install, SO what do we do about this?

I don't know, it pretty much worked (more or less) on my SB Live 5.1. My real question is, if most of the software doesn't work on a Live! card, why bother with this. Why not extract the most recent driver and use windows hardware properties to point it to that folder for the update?

I was just thinking out loud mostly. I mean the whole method seemed to work for me, but important components of the software are useless to some older cards.

I had no equilizer, the speaker control and EAX control were older versions patched into newer ones. CMSS was unavailable without installing Playcenter, which face it was MUCH less bloated than the new media player from creative.

The drivers are good but without the full software package, you'd be better off without.

I found while updating, even though I used the installers, when rebooting the version number of the driver being used by WinXP didn't show an update. I put in the extra step between each driver install (or patch) that I'd reboot, then go into the device manager and point the SB driver to the newer version.

So what I'm saying is you could probably do that without all the steps. Just unpack the most recent driver pack, and install it using windows driver update: Download the newest, unrar them, go to windows device manager (under system properties). Find and double click your sound card, click the drivers tab, select update drivers, then point it at the folder you unpacked to.

If you don't want newer software, you theoretically wouldn't need the install disk or to install each update on the way.

Anyone with an opinion on this method?

(Hope this was coherent. I had to edit this thing like 40 times. )

I don't know, but I got the latest av definitions and it clearly finds a virus/trojan everytime I scan the file. :S

I only get the error if I do a system scan manually, when I executed the file I didn't get any virus report...

Hi to all and excuse my bad english!

Well, I have a SB audigy 2 and I installed the drivers correctly as shown in the guide... BUT!... there is a "problem" with the eq-patch and the last version of EAX console: after the web-update of the drivers I installed the new EAX console update also (v. 2.02.05) and the EQ won't work animore!... If you try to reinstall the eq_patch again, you will have MANY files of the older EAX console version!... totally USELESS and no good!

So I looked for a solution:

HERE (click me!) you will find the ONLY file you need for the equalizator working correctly on SB Audigy 2 with last EAX console update!!!

Guide for installation:

- Follow EXACTLY the guide in the first page of this thread, but DON'T install the eq_patch!
- Be sure to update the drivers to the last version (download the 2 updates from creative website) and after this, most important, install the EAX console update 2.02.05!!!
- If all has gone well, all is functiong correctly (also the THX console) but not the eq (hardware not found error)
- Control the file in the \Program file\Creative\ShareDLL\ the PfMod.dll MUST be 106.496 byte.
- Simply CHANGE the file with the file I posted above! The 2 files have the same size... but aren't the same! (no need to boot in safe-mode!)
- Th eq will work perfectly!

I think this will go only for SB Audigy 2...

ps: if you don't want to use the new eax console, you can still use the eq by simply using THIS (click me!) modified older version of PfMod.dll (rename and copy over the existing file) instead of the eq_patch.exe of the first page. File size must be 98.304 byte


Summary (perhaps more clear than my post! )

- If you have the "old" (original from the cd) EAX console, use THIS (click me!) modified file for using the EQ (raneme it without the "old".

- If you have the last version of EAX console (2.02.05) use THIS (click me!) modified file for using the EQ

ps: if aren't sure of wich file you need, check the size of the file: originals and modded are the same!
