Hi!
I really like this guide . But yesterday I bought the German computer magazine "CHIP" which includes a guide "Audigy 1/2 -> Audigy 2 ZS". In this guide the guys from the magazine write, that you only need the recent Audigy 2 ZS Update (EAX4DRX_AUDIGY2_1_84_50.exe) and the patcher (CTCOMP.exe). Does this really work? Will I have any disadvantages compared with the "full" driver-CD-download (I guess all the software won't work )? I already wrote to the editors of CHIP, but they didn't answer yet .

And another question: Will my Audigy 2 be able to perform 7.1 sound after the update?

Thanks a lot,
Alpha-Omega

the audigy will only perform 7.1 if you use one of the built in digital outputs (unless you build a converter)

So if I use the SPDIF-Out it will be 7.1?

Thanks,

the audigy ES should work with these drivers, aswell as the youpax drivers if you really feel the need to use the ZS drivers

This is bummy cause it doesn't work with the SB0220 or SB0226, which just happen to be the only SB Live! cards I have access to...I hope they release another CTComp editor that let's me fix it up for my card.

sb live 5.1 digital...

Hello im working on installing those drivers right now...
dloaded both 1xxmb and 5xxmb installation

Was trying to patch it for several ways and it keeps saying that i dont have audigy2 card installed... my bet is for the cards id that is somehow 5.1 digital differs from normal 5.1 cards :S

Can someone tell me what to do now :S

Im starting to wonder about dloading normal Live drivers but i really wanted to try this one.

I need my card for Gaming, gaming and mp3.

Fast reply would own tho the topic is really old :S

[the setup from CTEngine dir simply doesnt even start... the one from audio/setup dir keeps saying i need audigy 2 card....]

caleb1,

Sometimes the software installer won't detect the card properly even if it has the id for your card as okay to install. I've found that if you find the driver folder for the 402 drivers (the one on the Audigy 2 ZS cd), and use CTZAPP.exe to install the driver, reboot, then reboot again, you can then run the installation program. (This, as long as you ctcomp it, if it needs it.) I have run into a problem if I try that with any later driver version though. XP wouldn't even boot until I CTZAPP'd it out in Safe Mode! If your gonna try this, get the Audigy 2 ZS cd with the 402's and just CTZAPP in the driver before using whatever you're gonna install (the YouPax or whatever). Remember to reboot twice. That should unlock the installer. After installing your software package, you may need to CTZAPP the driver the package installed over itself (choosing to overwrite any existing stuff). You only need to do this if, when checking in Device Manager, you find XP is still reporting the original driver you CTZAPP'd in, and now suddenly unsigned! Go ahead, in that case, and CTZAPP in the driver your software package installed right over itself and upon reboot you should see that XP now reports the correct, signed drivers.

follow my posts, i 've found a way to do the same as the ctcomp.exe just for some special cards like my dell audigy 2. the patcher hasent included the ID of my card...
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...&page=22&pp=15 post 316+
just get latest sblive drivers to find ur ID, not the audigy ones

@russellbdx
if the patcher works for u why not use it? its easy and fast! the main problem is that many different versions of the same cards has been released (OEM, dell....different name by creative to get new consumers or whatever). i dunno who the author of the patcher is but there is just an old version out there that hasent included all this new audigy IDs and this is why the patcher doesnt work for some cards. if we can do a list with all model numbers and the right IDs i would patch the latest driverupdate and host it. only got 100mb webspace, but very fast and 10gb traffic so dont ask me to host the full ZS cd, i cant!
the driverupdate only is about 10mb as 7zip file so we need just to collect some IDs and the ones already provided by the patcher and i can host them. so u can just install but without the full software then. i'm not even sure what software u will get just with the driver and i'm using kX-project driver now cus i managed to fix the problem with them and my tv-card )
and the kX-drivers own creative, even without EAX! gaming with this bass is fine and music is much better anyway! didnt notice this big difference before, but now with my new 5.1 instead of 4.1 it kicks ass! bass is much better than with creative CMSS crap...

@caleb1
dont care about what device manager tells u, only care about what u can do with ur card. if using the ZS software doesnt work u did something wrong but ur card dont need the name audigy 2 ZS to do the same!

maybe someone here should collect all model numbers and IDs to patch every card.
i'm not even using creative's driver anymore because the bass redirect just sucks campared to the one by kX driver www.kxproject.com
maybe i gonna try creative's driver again if i have some time later

This might be a late reply.

I tried this out on my SB Audigy (1) and it worked flawlessly. I was also able to update to the latest Audigy 2 ZS drivers on the web w/no issues either.

If you try to reinstall the eq_patch again, you will have MANY files of the older EAX console version!... totally USELESS and no good!

So I looked for a solution...
Thanks Raven76 for your solution!

Is there a chance to install the updates, even if I din't use the software install.
I only used the drivers from an audigy 2 zs cd. No the updates don't contain any .inf files, so I can't install them.

When I try to copy simply all the files to the install directory it won't work. It just says different language or sth.

Looking forward to your answers :-)

If you used the drivers from an Audigy 2 ZS cd you should be fine. You can visit Creative's website and download the full installation they have for an Audigy 2 ZS (13 MB) and then the web update installation (6 MB). Uncompress the file and then apply the patch to the installation, run setup, reboot, and then repeat the process with the web update. Afterwards you should have the latest driver installed w/no problems (hopefully).

I'm sorry maybe I didn't explain myself very well.

I only installed the drivers, by using the Control Panel, without any software. So after I look it up in Control Panel it says the drivers number is 5.12.6.402.
But I think the newsest driver should be something with 5.12.6.444 ?!

I see. Well you should install the software as well as it brings some benefits like being able to enable CMSS 3D from the EAX control panel but you should still be able to upgrade to the latest Audigy 2 ZS driver by using the above method. Just visit Creative.com and download the full update and the latest web update for the Audigy 2 ZS. You can uncompress both and apply the patch so that it will install on your (non Audigy 2 ZS I'm assuming) sound card. Just reboot in-between each installation.

Creative doesn't list the driver version on their site so I'll have to post it when I get home.

YouP originally wanted to install EMU1212 driver with Audigy 1, but the sound quality was not what he expected. Then he produced PAX 2.68 by basing on Audigy2 series .444 driver.

Which link do mean, nohbody? YouP-PAX, or A2ZS ISO, or Cracked software package?

Hi Guys,
I now installed the patched drivers and at least I hear something . But is there a way to see (in Windows Hardware Manager or so), if my Audigy 2 works as ZS?

Thanks
