Guide: How to install SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS drivers on Live!/Audigy/Audigy 2

HI People,

I just read the 28 pages and I'm totally confused...

I have an SB Live 5.1 Digital (SB0220) - and I downloaded the image from:
http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php

Will it work on my card? I understand that I should NOT install EAX console and Creative Speaker caliberation... Will it still work? Will I be able to do EAX 2?

Please advise, thanks!

Could not install the drivers, eventhough I changed that CTComp.dat file, it did not install on my SB LIve 5.1 Please help.

At the moment I'm trying the KX drivers, so I will be able to atleast hear some music... ;-))

Hey man, I downloaded the "NewYear" zip and when I run it it comes up in Gibrish, or maybe chinease? anyway I can't read it...

Is there any fix for that? I can't choose the right options...

Hi TB303:

I d/l the ISO from this link: http://file.mydrivers.com/sound/A2zsDrvDisc.ISO

It's reported that the link goes slow now. I just tried it, and was getting around 10 kb/s. When I 1st d/l form that link, I was getting 27 kb/s and higher (using FlashGet Download Manager). I went to sleep, and when I awaked, the download was done.

I know this ISO works with an Audigy, but the guide must be followed. I believe it should work for SB Live cards too as the preamble to the guide says it does (yet it notes known limitations of some cards).

TB303 you may lose your rear or sub/center outputs if you use these drivers (due to the changed design of the sb022x series cards)

Well, I tried installing the NewYear drivers,
It didn't go well.

All the software was installed but when I tried to run anything it said that it didn't find the right sound card - and I had NO sound...

I'm not sure I installed it correctly - it being chinease and all... ;-))

I tired to follow the images in the guid that came with them, but that was in chinease... ;-))

So you say that there is no point in me installing those drivers or getting them to work because I will lose some channels? I have an SB0226 according to the KX drivers, though the sticker on the card says 0220.

What shoudl I do?

I just want to have surround working and to be able to use EAX 1/2 - from some reason it stopped working and than I discovered that SB don't bother patching those cards anymore...

i got a audigy gamer and i installed the audigy2 drivers and everything went great..

now its a month later and i want to record stuff..

creative media player wont open and it gives a error message. .. anyone know how to fix this>?

I recently bought an Audigy 5.1 OEM from a friend, cause my Live had an incident and the soundstorm wasn't good enough for me.
So I decided to install these moded drivers bedore I even tested properly the official audigy 1 cd drivers. Everything went smoothly, thanks to the great guide, only to find out a couple of problems later. All the apps work fine, however I keep bumping into problems with games all the time. For instance :
SW: battlefront, which had perfect multicahnnel sound, has problems in the menu, where there is sound only from the front speakers, not even the center. In the game itself there are no problems with multichannel sound, however the EAX isn't working.
In another game, which was working perfectly with the SB live - POP: sands of time, I have no sound from the rear speakers. When I turn on the stereo surround from CMSS, they start to work, but it only copies the front speakers, which isn't right, the game has real surround.
So I'm not entirely sure whether the games are incompatible with the Audigy itself, or theese drivers have something to do with it.
If anyone knows for sure that everything, including multichannel sound and eax works fine with the drivers on an Audigy 5.1 OEM, please tell me what is wrong.

PS.: if I uninstall the drivers from "sound blaster audigy" in the add/remove menu will it uninstall the apps. aswell, or only the drivers?

i really can't use in S/B live! Value?! but anyway.. i still tryout.. n face these prob.. anyone know y just tell me.. if not.. then i'll assume tat my S/B live! value can't be modd n give up lo..

1st.. i uninstalled all my previous driver n use the driven clean to clean the S/B live! value driver tat downloaded from driverheven. after tat i restart my pc.. then after restart.. the system found new audio devices.. so i ignore it.. n run the ctcomp.exe to patch the ISO.. the patch path should be \Audio\Setup rite?

so after patch i go run the setup file from \ctrun\setup.exe ..(then i choose full installation 4 audigy 2 n mediasource. but note tat... when i instal the audigy 2.. it will automatic install the file to the \creative\sblive\ folder... y like this? (i got delete this folder b4 i patch n install it.. this is someone told this inthis forum.. i forgot..) so nvm.. i let it continue.. then finish i restart my pc..

then new hardware detected... is the EMUxxx chip..(this is S/B live! value chips la.. i forgot the name) so i continue..(actually it continue itself...) then after tat i can hear the sound... tat mean my sound card is working... BUT..... i can only run the THX... the others can't.... it said cannot find the audigy 2 sound card some sort like tat la.. this case was some one faced in this forum also..

so..? i did try many times.. try to patch not only the /Audio/Setup/ ... finally i reaslize tat.. whether i patch or i didn't... when i install the audigy 2.. it will choose this folder (/creative/sblive) 4 me to install.. is it mean tat it still detect my sound card as S/B Live! value.. but not audigy 2? n everytime i installed n restart my pc.. sure i can listen the sound.. look like everything fine.. but i can't open any application.. except THX...those surround mixer.. speaker calibration... eax console.. n etc etc... all i can't run..

so..? clear wat i'm talking about? sign...wat a long explaination.. someone can solve it? i suffered it 4 2 days already.. if my S/B live! value really can't modd.. then...install back the old driver...

hi.. using a audigy 2.. some how after i installed everythg is fine but there is no 7.1 support.. is it suppose to be like tat since A2 only support 6.1.. and another qns is i dunno u wen i test the speakers only in quad mode den the rear speakers will sound.. in other mode only the front speakers will sound.. but wen i play wif foobar.. rear speakers are working.

Hi, just stumbled upon this recently, have an Audigy X-Gamer and just installed the 2ZS drivers (not the full CD download as it's way too long to download) from the Creative Website, and I'm not sure if it worked or not.

Everything is working, sounds great, but I only have 2 CMSS choices (read here that I should see 3), but do have all the EAX and DTS choices in the control panel, and the equallizer works great!

Other than the fact that I think it sounds better, any other way I can check?

ok, finally i was able to do the ctcomp (i had to do it manually cause taht ctcomp patch doenst have my hardware's ID) patch but now im facing another problem, there is no 5.1 option anymore, i did a little look into it and seems there is a livefix.zip file that can help me with taht problem, but... all links are dead !!! can someone please provide me with the file? i've looked for it in many places but non has work so far

Hello! I've followe this great guide and i've installed the Audigy2ZS on my Audigy LS....

THe driver works....they are updated to 23/06/2004 and all the consoles works.....THX,EAX etc....(good improvments with these new functions....)

But i've some question:
1 - Clicking on the Properties on My computer,seeing the hardware, windows see my Audigy as an Audigy....not Audigy 2....Is it normal? (one the console of EAX and THX they show me an Audigy....not Audigy2)

2 - I'm playing with Call Of Duty United Offensive and into audio option i can select EAX - EAX 2.0 - EAX 3 bt not EAX 4 (i've installed the lastest driver)....Is a problem or only the same see regular my Audio Card?

and # 2… the audigy 1 h/w is capable of eax 4… maybe they ZS drivers weren't installed correctly

Anyone have any idea on how to enable the decoder tabs under the device controls? I've been playing around with the configuration for over 24 hours and have not had any luck... (it's a Dell OEM Audigy2 board with the same chipset as the Audigy2 ZS).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I only have a little problem with my softmod. when i go into audio hq and enable dts es matrix, it disables itself when you exit audio hq.
I have an Audigy 2 card and i followed the guide on page 1. I have only installed the eax console, drivers and audio hq. i have updated to the most recent drivers and installed dts neo.

hi,

i got a sblive card.. i installed the audigy 2 zs drivers, but whenever i try to run surround mixer, speaker setting and graphic equalizer, i'm getting the error say "the audio device supported by this application is not detected".. fyi, i didn't have these problems with the audigy 2 drivers..

does anyone with a sblive card able to get these commands working?

It took me three days to finally download the A2zsdrvdisc.iso from mydrivers.com because it would download for a while and then drop to 0.00 KB a sec, It wouldnt stop, it would just slow to 0.00 so i would have to constantly monitor it. But i could supply the file on an ftp if demand for the file is still high.
it is only cable modem so it only runs about 30 KB upload max but its constant unless my comp goes down. BTW i have an audigy 1 and the drivers work great all the way as far as i can see. sounds great on SW Battlefront.

So if you want the file just let me know and i will set up a link!

Hello people,
I have an audigy 1 and installed the "Audigy 2" cd on my system and updates using the ctcomp patch, most things seem to work except a couple:

1. If I change any EAX presets such as Acoustic, Auditorium etc using EAX Console while EAX control panel is open, my system reboots.

2. Need For Speed Underground and NFSU2 are only giving me stereo while Call Of Duty only gives me EAX 3.0, is this right? How to check whether EAX 4.0 is even enabled.

I tried this technique using another build of the driver installation...but it still doesn't recognize that I have an Audigy... "can't detect..." etc.

I used the one from someon else's link here in the thread... http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php

And those 4 disks still are not available. I'm still trying to get the ISO but it doesn't sound like it works.

Did you apply the ctcomp.exe patch on the audio\setup directory, and was it successful? I have tried that very technique at first and it worked except for the issues I just mentioned above. I have also tried the ISO this morning, it also "works" but no 3d sound in NFSU or NFSU2 or mohaa etc, call of duty is fine but only EAX 3.0. But no doubt sound quality has really improved, no hissing in the background anymore.

Niket DriverHeaven Newbie Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 2 Rep Power: 0	I only have a little problem with my softmod. when i go into audio hq and enable dts es matrix, it disables itself when you exit audio hq. I have an Audigy 2 card and i followed the guide on page 1. I have only installed the eax console, drivers and audio hq. i have updated to the most recent drivers and installed dts neo.

izz DriverHeaven Newbie Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 4 Rep Power: 0	hi, i got a sblive card.. i installed the audigy 2 zs drivers, but whenever i try to run surround mixer, speaker setting and graphic equalizer, i'm getting the error say "the audio device supported by this application is not detected".. fyi, i didn't have these problems with the audigy 2 drivers.. does anyone with a sblive card able to get these commands working?

charvel350 DriverHeaven Newbie Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: texas dfw Posts: 3 Rep Power: 0	It took me three days to finally download the A2zsdrvdisc.iso from mydrivers.com because it would download for a while and then drop to 0.00 KB a sec, It wouldnt stop, it would just slow to 0.00 so i would have to constantly monitor it. But i could supply the file on an ftp if demand for the file is still high. it is only cable modem so it only runs about 30 KB upload max but its constant unless my comp goes down. BTW i have an audigy 1 and the drivers work great all the way as far as i can see. sounds great on SW Battlefront. So if you want the file just let me know and i will set up a link! Hello people, I have an audigy 1 and installed the "Audigy 2" cd on my system and updates using the ctcomp patch, most things seem to work except a couple: 1. If I change any EAX presets such as Acoustic, Auditorium etc using EAX Console while EAX control panel is open, my system reboots. 2. Need For Speed Underground and NFSU2 are only giving me stereo while Call Of Duty only gives me EAX 3.0, is this right? How to check whether EAX 4.0 is even enabled. thanks.

"can't detect..." etc. I used the one from someon else's link here in the thread... http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php And those 4 disks still are not available. I'm still trying to get the ISO but it doesn't sound like it works.

I have tried that very technique at first and it worked except for the issues I just mentioned above. I have also tried the ISO this morning, it also "works" but no 3d sound in NFSU or NFSU2 or mohaa etc, call of duty is fine but only EAX 3.0. But no doubt sound quality has really improved, no hissing in the background anymore.
