kx drivers are for editing and stuff i have never tried them

but if your a gamer/music listener/movie watcher this driver is a lot better due to full eax support and lots of little tweaks like CMSS

Start.exe error

Hi

I have tried to folow the guide but it doesn't work. I have downloaded the iso for the CD and whe I try to run start.exe an error comes up...

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
D:\A2ZSDR~1\CTRun\START.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0db5 OP:ff ff ff 22 22

I have tried uninstalling the drivers, running in safe mode and nothing happens.
When I try to run any of the other EXE files from the cd I get a message saying "program to big to fit in memory".

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Just to add to my previous post.
I have an Audigy 2 sound card.
I am trying to get this to work because the card came with no CDs and I want to get all the extra stuff. Also the sound upgrades people have been having seem really worth the hassle.

Just one more question, as I'm quite new to this. Am I supposed to remove the drives for my sound card, then install w/o installing new drivers or do I install the drivers first?

Thanks for the help.

bad iso?

have u checked the iso for errors??? maybe the dl had an issue.... also, do everything as if you just got your card brand new....
Only use the drvrs from the iso then upgrade. tho not sure how the creative updates help if the files themselves have such early dates...i.e. 2002/3 In any case, a bit tricky but go slow! one step at a time! an good luck

wooottt!!

Unbelievable...........I don't think my Audgy card can sound so good.
I though that when I installed audigy 2 driver on my audigy 1 was already the best but this zs driver just blows me away.
Thanks for the great guide and driver.

Also I got everything work (eq, dts:neo, and thx) by just replacing the pfmod.dll file without even going to the safe mode.

Heres a good one.....

I have the game SOF2 and have probally uninstalled it and reinstalled it 4 or 5 times in the 2 years I've had it. When it's installing there is music and like a news broadcast playing. The sound has always cut in and out and crackled real bad. Got board the other day and decided to install it again. Well guess what, it was just as clear as can be. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. Nothing else has changed on my puter besides the drivers. From what I've read these drivers are supposed to use less CPU cycles....seems to be true.

Did you delete the SBlive folder that was left in "Program Files" after you uninstalled the drivers you where using ?

I even used that patch on regular Audigy drivers and it worked.

I have a few questions.

First, I have an Audigy 2. Am i going to hear any noticable sound difference by using these drivers rather than the regular audigy 2 drivers?

Also, I cant remember how I installed my current drivers. I think I just downloaded an update from creative rather than using the cd. However, I have no uninstallers listed in add/remove programs. Is there some kind of uninstaller I can download to remove these drivers? If not, does anyone know how I can uninstall them?

Next, is it possible to just rip the drivers from the cd without all the extra programs? Then edit whatever has to be editted so that it will work on other sound cards? It just seems like alot of stuff isn't working yet and I don't use those programs anyway so it would be much easier.

Oh one more, wtf is CTHelper? I've had that running in the background since I installed my Audigy 2 drivers. When i shut down, Windows is always waiting for that program to close.

Thanks to anyone who can provide any help at all.

1. Try to read all the thread from the beginning and you can found answers to some of your questions!

2. A2ZS drivers is the same as for A2, but the A2ZS apps are newer with more feauteres which can give you very noticable sound difference rather than with the regular audigy 2 apps.

3. To completely uninstall and remove the Creative drivers try
the Driver Cleaner. Link to it can be found on the main page of this site

4. Searchng in Google gives this information about CTHelper:

Process File: cthelper or cthelper.exe
Process Name: Plug-in manager
Description: Background task that works as a plug-in manager for Creative drivers. It helps the third party manufacturers to produce drivers, add-on features, and fixes that will integrate with a tighter fit with Creative sound drivers and utilities.
Company: Creative Technology Ltd

Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No

Many other interesting things about this annoying process can be found in Google! For example, some peoples claims that all works fine when this process is disabled in msconfig. I never have troubles with this process.
