Default Post ac97 - spdif opical out - 5.1 .....HELP!!!

i just got a new dolby 5.1 reciver and surround spearkers, and im having trouble getting the surround from my pc to work with my reciver, im usinf a spdif optical cable and i can only get the front 2 channels to respond, the reciver breaks it all up into the sub and 5 poeakers with the dloby logic II but when i try to test each speaker only the front 2 side channels respond.

does anyone have n ide on how to get the output from my onboard sound card to put all 5.1 channels into the spdif optical? i have a "msi kt333 ultra aru" and it has an expansion pci slot card that has the spdif optical out and 2 other jacks for "rear and center/sub outs" my reciver doesnt have the imputs for the other 4 channels

thanks

Have you tried new drivers 3910 (available only via MSI Live Update)?

go into the soundman utility and check the box to use the s bracket instead of the onboard connectors, and if you have used msi liveupdate you need to mute the sound then turn it backon, for some reason after i use live update i loose the rear speakers also.

I got this motherboard too.
Try updating drivers with lastest ones from realtek, they are even newer (3990).

For Win98/98se/me/2k/XP

From what I understand the optical out spif will only ouput suround sound for DVD movies. If you use PowerDVD you can choose to output the sound to the spif. For all other sound, like games you need to use the analog ports for suround sound.
