Salvation!

What I mean is here is what to do when encountering "No Creative Audio Hardware detected. Please install blah, blah..."

This happens with all the modern era (after old vxd 9x Liveware 3.0 stuff) software after uninstalling SBLive from add/remove. No problem! Just CTZAPP.EXE in the 402's from the Audigy 2 ZS cdrom. Reboot. Then run the CTCOMP patch on the Audio/Setup folder of the Audigy 2 cdrom (the "multilanguage.rar" thing you extracted to C:, then discovered the "C:\SB_INSTALL" folder on your hard drive. Run "Start.exe" from the "Ctrun" folder. Install all except EAX Console, Speaker Calebrator, Windows Drivers, and also don't install MediaSource. Sorry, but if you want access to your center channel on anything but DVD's you'll need to use PlayCenter instead! (This, so you get the CMSS control to turn on and off.)

Then install all the updates for the aps you have installed from the Creative Audigy 2 driver download site and install PlayCenter 3.02.52. Reboot. Right click the Disc Detector Icon in your systray and choose Properties. Uncheck enable Disc Detector. Install PlayCenter 3.02.70 from the Creative SBLive Driver downlode site. Uncheck all the file associations to leave your current media player as default. Reboot.

Now CTCOMP patch the extracted 441 driver downloaded from the Creative Audigy 2 ZS site. Run the setup and reboot. Your drivers are now all screwed up! So run CTZAPP and put the check in "overwrite previously installed Creative software and driver files" and answer ok the the warning box that will pop up. Reboot.

Now CTCOMP patch the extracted 443 driver set downloaded from the Creative Audigy 2 ZS site. Run the setup and reboot. Screwed again! So run CTZAPP and put that check in the "overwrite" box, answer ok again and watch CTZAPP do its magic. Reboot.

You now have the latest Creative software that will run with the SBLive, with the added bliss of Audio Stream Recorder, as well as better sound than the card has ever produced.

If your wondering, yes the procedure is about the same as the original guide to using the Audigy 2 drivers on the Live/Audigy 1. The major exception is using the 402 ZS drivers as the base install. Also, in addition to the software updates listed on that thread, don't forget to include the newer version of Soundfont Bank Manager as well! That was added after that guide was written.

So, after all that, to answer your question, you simply need to CTZAPP a driver in to get rid of the "No Creative Audio Hardware detected" warning.

Oh, you may want to have Audio HQ to run at startup to get easy access in your systray to the EAX Control, since the EAX Console kills everything if installed and the EAX stuff no longer appears in Surround Mixer. And I would also recommend adding the 8MB soundfont file from an old Liveware cd or at least the 4MB one from the newer cd's. CTZAPP just puts the 2MB one in Windows/System 32. Place the bigger one in there and use Soundfont Manager to replace the 2MB one in both Synth A and Synth B. I also have the old EAPCI8M.ECW file. That's available on the net, but you might have that on an old cd (mine is on an Ensoniq card's cd). That gets put in Windows/System 32 as well, and you rename default.ecw to EAPCI2M.ECW and rename EAPCI8M.ECW to default.ecw. This helps the midi synthesizer for older games made for Windows 3.1 as well as DOS games run through vdmsound. Some games wont even play with the 2MB default.ecw.

If you run across a problem with the EAX Advanced EQ presets being muted (happens less with the 443's), just scroll down in the main EAX Control window and tick the label "Parametric" with your mouse and then tap the little volume slider as well. When closing the EAX Control, if it asks to save new settings, say yes or the sound will be instantly muted again!
