Speaker recomendations
I am currently using a set of Altec Lansing ADA 885s (4.1) on an Audigy 2 and I am looking to upgrade my speakers seeing as they are quite a few years old an beginning to degrade. I would say that my audio use is about 60% gaming and 40% music. I am ideally looking for a 5.1 setup because a) I don't have room for a 6th rear channel and b) my sound card only supports up to 6.1. I was anticipating getting the Creative Gigaworks S700 as I hear they are quite good, only to find out that the S700s don't exist is Hong Kong and just about all of Asia for that matter, they only sell the 7.1 S750s. I am thinking about getting the S750s and just not hooking up the rear 2 and using it as a 5.1 setup seeing as the S700 and S750 are exactly the same except for the 2 rears. I am going back to the US in about a week and thought I'd just pick up the S700s there, but then I realized that since its 220v over here and 110 over there, I would need stepdown transformer...but a BIG one at that, 560w and I don't know if they even make transformers that big. But before I go off an do that, I turn to the DH community seeking advice.

in order to see a noticable improvement over the Altec's I think your only viable route is the Klipsch Pro Media's

Yeah from what I've heard, the Gigaworks are basically Klipsch satellites and a powerful Logitech subwoofer. Thats why I was so interested in them

Klipsch and Logitech in Gigaworks?
Sweet, maybe that's why they sound so great! Oh yeah, lovin' them all the way... ...'n since I have a relatively small room, the bass is true overkill! ...hooked up on an Audigy (platinum, not that it matters), using the latest KX drivers (tuned, of course), the sound has never been better in my vicinity...

Good to hear, I think I've found a 1600W step down transformer so it seems that I will be picking up a set of the S700s in a few weeks. Thanks for the input

...but yeah, you have to downgrade the sub volume at higher output if you don't want to end up smashing your head against a wall... ...'til now I haven't encountered any sound distortions, not even on poor encoded MP3's...

the gigaworks packs a very healthy amount of wattage... for absalute clarity.... it's very nicely matched.. you'd have to be insane to crank it up ..as the clarity will ware you down very quickly... the high you crank it... the more pounding it is on your body.....

Mmmmh, I really enjoyed reading that review...
...from what I could read (not being able to access the one over at Tom's HW guide) it's the most comprehensive review on the web (not that there are many of 'em)...
