SBlive 5.1 problems, Help!

I'm Using a Sblive 5.1 with the newest creative drivers. The problem is , all the sudden I will notice the sound is horrible. It sounds like there is too much trebble and not enough bass, plus some distortion. When I check the bass and trebble it is unchanged. My fix is to reinstall it. That works but for only so long. Something keeps making it go wierd on me. I have yet to narrow down the source of this problem. I have tried the KX drivers but they are way too buggy for games. Has anyone run into this problem?

Athlon XP @ 2.4ghz
1gig pc3200
Shuttle AN-35 Ultra
Gf4 ti4200

try to reduce the master volume - and btw with kX, was the distortion there aswell?

Just figured it out. It seems everytime I play counterstrike is what does it. Its fine in game but when i exit the game it becomes messed up. The problems I had with the KX drivers was sounds playing too slow or two fast in games and Wrong or absent positional sound.

too slow too fast?

interesting - never had that occur, but i think that positional audio works when D3D h/w acceleration is active

Sounds become stretched out in DesertCombat(bf1942 mod). The radio commands "roger, negative" etc. become twice as long like they are in slow mo. All sounds behind me in that game become almost silent.

strange… it may be game engine specific though - but if creative drivers are fine for you keep them
