Aww Man!! The Kx Drivers Killed My Surround Sound!

so I installed the KX drivers in hopes that it would make the really bad sound quality for games get better. I have a new SB LIVE! card. I have 4 large speakers hooked up (two semi-old Yamaha speakers and 2 Laptec speakers that are very nice). After getting the new Labtec speakers on my comp, I noticed a big difference in quality, but whenever I turned EAX or hardware acceleration on with games, it would pop and crackle and sound AWEFUL. So I installed the new drivers

long story short, the second I installed them my speakers stopped working. then I turned off the front\rear flip sollution that they had, and my speakers were back...or so I thought. My 2nd pair of speakers no longer work. I LIKE HAVING 4 SPEAKERS! I was going to set up a 5.1 system really soon but now its impossible. HELP PLEASE!

what sound card model do you have? SB022x?

in the kX mixer it should show in the blue box at the bottom right corner- next to the "Test" button

currently kX doesn't quite work with the newer 6ch ac-97 codec arrangement on that board…

run 'kxctrl --gui'
enter:
-----

gptr 5f 0
sptr 5f 0 33

-----

now open kX DSP and upload epiloglt_k1 and 'x4'
now connect your surrounder outputs (or anything related to your 'rear' channels) to the 'out_13,out_14' of the epiloglt_k1 via the 'x4' plugin)

you should now hear rear speakers

doesnt work. Running the -gui thing doesnt seem to do anything. It just puts up a whole bunch of extension options and then says "-pause-" then it closes.

EDIT: Ooops now it opens. lets try this out now.

start -> run command
then type kxctrl --gui

in the kX mixer - click the DSP button in the bottom right section

im going to delete the drivers.

I dont knwo how to fix my EAX sound but this is too much. now my MP3s sound like garbage.

I think the kX Project drivers are more for making music and other junk... For the gaming I just use the offical Creative SB Audigy Plat. drivers

yeah well

I have a LIVE card. So no gaming for me! heck, the darn thing pops and crackles durring sertain DX games. its bad times. Someone gave me a registry fix, but it made no difference whatsoever.

I too have a new SB Live!, and I have also experienced your problems with crackling noise in games when using it with Creative drivers. I've never had this problem with my old Live! Value, nor with the KX drivers.

I found a link to this page, http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ . It has a few fixes for sound bugs, whether caused by VIA chipsets or Creative drivers. If you're using Creative drivers, this fix could solve it:

yeah I dont have VIA. I use nForce. My other option that I MIGHT try is to move it to another PCI slot. I dont know if that'll matter one little bit, but im willing to try.
