Speaker question.
I leave my Ultras on 24/7 becuase I heard that turning it on and off shorten the amp's lifespan. Is that true? or would be it better to turn it off when not in use?

turning on and off - unless your speakers don't produce the loud "pop" sound when you turn them on

Hmm.. I'm not sure how much it will actually shorten the life span if really at all. What I do if I know I'm not going to be around the computer for an extended length of time I turn mine off. However, if I will be back around I turn mine all the way down. Honesty it is "harder" on electronics when you do a power up.

yeah, my speakers do make the 'pop' sound. I gues I'll just leave them on 24/7 unless I go on vacation or something

life of a computer speakers are well... will live longer then you if they are kept in good condition and in an enviroment that will allow it to servive..... i would recommend turning them off when they aren't in use.... Such as if you were to leave for an hour or 2.... leave em on... if you gonna be gone for a longer period of time... shut em off... if you shut your computer down... turn them off with the computer.... Spikes in power/Static discharge... Interference doesn't have much effect on speakers when there off....

well you mentioned Ultras... i'm not sure if this is a Speaker setup for Computer or a standalone set of speakers and a seperate Amp... More details... It is highly HIGHLY recommend you turn of an external amplifier when there is no sound going through it .... or not much for connections.... each channel output will deteriorate quicker as there isn't anything to amplify... you can blow your outputs easily with nothing connected EVEN if there is a failsafe.... usually with electronics... if it isn't in use.... and you plan to not use it for a decent amount of time.... best to shut it down....

try, when turning the speakers on, to have the volume knob at the minimun to prevent the pop sound

the poping won't hurt them if they are any decent quality... they shouldn't pop though... means there is a quality filter on the outputs or volume control is letting to much power LEAK through... leaving them on... doesn't hurt them... it when you leave em on for very long periods of time
