Well, since I got my computer back from the store the sound has not worked. I reformatted, blah blah, installed audio drivers, blah... like I used to and it still won't work.
I installed the official Creative drivers for Audigy 1 Platinum... wouldn't work; Enabled AC97 in the BIOS... wouldn't work; Checked that the card was in the PCI slot and the jacks in properly... didn't help... So what should I do?

check the device mangaer to see if there are any issues
also check the sound control panel to see what the default device in use is - if it has (emulated) at the end change the device in use

Got it fixed... I had to change the cord that runs from the Audigy card to the CD-Rom to another slot on the Audigy... It was supposed to be on CD Audio but some mofo from CompUSA changed it to AUX, so I changed it back to CD Audio =)

that shouldn;t matter - ion the mixer you in mute AUX instead of CD_IN
anyway nowadays those cables aren't really of any use anymore - with software decoding the CD-DA and then outputting it digitally to the soundcard where it is higher quality than the cheap DAC's on the CD Drive EDIT: if you have a CD_SPDIF port on ur audigy - use that and the 2 pin port on the CD/DVD driver for better quality

DJ.... How do you get audio to reproduce in true stereo or better without the cable?..... i've built and setup MANY systems... that when you remove the cable between the CD-Rom and the soundcard..... only the Right or LEFT side produces sound OR you get a mono sound while playing back cd's...and this is across every sound card i've ever handled...

Ripping from a CD and simply playing a standard cd through the CD rom is different... ripping is purely diggital.... playing it isn't entirely the same...
