help with audigy2zs platinum

No sound from center or sub, hope someone knows a fix. Got this thing last saturday, and it worked great for awhile. Installed fine, configured speakers fine, all was good. I watched the demos that came with it, then played jedi academy. When I went to configure speakers again, non center speaker, or sub.

System specs:

intel 875pbz with bios p12
p4 3.2 800 fsb
ati radeon 9800xt
1 gig crucial ddr400
generic cd rom, and sony 48x cd burner
windows xp pro sp1
logitech z-640 5.1 speakers

This was an install on an existing os, replacing an aopen cobra 5.1 card. All was fine for about an hour, then I lost my center and sub after running jedi academy.

My trouble shooting has included:

reset creative defaults
swap speaker ports to test speakers (they are good)
remove and install drivers
change pci slots
exchanged card for a new one (center and sub never worked in it)
format and clean windows install
contacted creative (they pretty much advised removing and installing drivers
in safe mode with load startup items and all microsoft services disabled,
then installing drivers from cd with ctrun.exe) ctrun would not run.
so i followed creative's procedure using both install program, and adding driver
from device manager

So far no luck, the thing sounded great when it worked. I am beginning to think I got two bad cards in a row. But most likely I am just a dummy and overlooking something really obvious. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Check speaker settings in the creative software and also windows speaker settings. My a2zs resets to 2.1 spkrs. pereodicly In the cl speaker settings make sure "sync w/ control panel" is checked. Also check speaker wires etc. If all settings are correct goto "mixer" choose "advanced" and check volume levels.

Thanks for the reply. I did forget to mention that checking speakers in windows and in creative is something I have done in all steps. I have also checked the volume levels under advanced. Can't be the speakers or a break in the cables, I switched center/sub with rear speakers and they worked fine, I just do not get any sound coming from that port on the sound card.
No sound while for those two while running speaker setup. But, I do get sound from center for sure listening to music or windows start up and misc windows sounds...

This has got me stumped, believe I may have gotten two bad cards in a row. Both from the same place, perhaps a bad batch...

From the fire port the speakers are pluged into the first three jacks? Front and sub are next to the fire wire port.

yes, front and sub next to firewire port. this is my second card. The first one I had worked great for about an hour, then dropped the center and sub. I checked all and finally exchanged it, did another windows install, and this one, center and sub never worked.

weird huh?

yes, installed all drivers, updated thru creative, updated my bios to latest after first card crapped out, no irq conflicts, and swapped the card thru 3 pci slots. Motherboard has no onboard sound.

Think I am going to take it back to compusa and have them install it in one of their systems see if they can get sound out of it.

hehe running out of options

I think that's what I would do also. Thing is if works there then you are in the same place.
Sorry I could not be more help.

ya,that is what i am thinking, but if it does work there, then i know it is something in my configuration here, so one of my friends may end up with a free new audigy the thing did sound great when it worked, great separation of sounds in surround, and big difference in music quality.

I do appreciate the help, have a good evening
mark
