I have read the entire thread... I still can't get it to work. I was hoping someone who got it to work could walk me through it

Ok thanks.

I looked around google, no one seems to have any ideas. So i guess im gonna figure it all out my self.

If i connect somthing wrong, is there a chance of destroying my A2 ZS or the lil card? If not then ill use the lazy method of testing pits over and over again...

If yes then ill find my volt meter...

hmm... well that's what I bought it for...the headphone out and mic in... the remote would be nice... oh well

I bought a sb live sound card off ebay for 1 cent... when it comes I'm going to try to get the live drive to work w/ that card and then put it in a different ocmputer.

You can let work everything on the Drive, including Line2/Mic2 Aux2 inputs, but you have to follow the informations posted in this thread and modify the Drive, if you want

If some changes are needed, could you explain it in non-technical language?

I have read this thread through and through many times now and there is a lot of very good info. I hope some people are still following it that can answer my questions. I have an OEM Audigy 2 ZS that came with my Dell PC. I am trying to add a SPDIF input that is capable of decodings an AC3 encoded signal. I have built a COAX to TTL level converter as described earlier in the thread and I have no problems geting stereo sound in through this circuit to pin 5 on the AD_EXT pins. My problem now is getting the Creative drivers fooled into giving me the option to select AC3 (Dolby Digital) decoding from this input. I tried connecting pin 25 to pin 35 as suggested here and in other threads. This did give me the option however the speaker setup is set to headphones and I can not get audio out of my speakers even by changing the speaker setup through the control panel. I didn't have this problem with an earlier version of the creative drivers, but AC3 decoding never did work. I can't find the older drivers online anymore (creative only post the latest).

When my dell pc came to me there was a jumper connecting pins 35 and 36 and a jumper connecting pins 33 and 34. I believe from what I have read that these are used for the front panel connections. Specificaly pin 36 connects to pin 10 at J1 which is used for headphone detection.

So my question is how should I jumper pins 25, 33, 34, 35 and 36 to fool my Audigy into thinking it has a drive bay and preserve the front panel connections? My initial idea is to leave pins 33 and 34 jumpered and tie pins 25,35, and 36 together. But this strikes me as a bad Idea, due to my understaing 35 is a input pin and you can't tie two signals to the same input. I don't want some short if I do plug in headphones. Is pin pin 36 only connected to pin 10 at J1? Does this pin tie into the audigy processor chip? Does pin 35 play two diffrent roles? Can I connect another pin to 36 to keep everything happy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
JV

By the way I did try the KX drivers and got decoded AC3, but they did not seem to give me the same quality of sound. Possibly I could tweak more settings but I would prefer to stick with creative drivers if possible.

audigy 2 (no zs - but will probably apply to it, too!)

thank you guys for giving me the (almost) right circuit to get spdif-in (i have not build the other circuits) - and remember, on audigy 2 (zs) pin 15 is actually pin 5:

but do not make the same mistake as i did - do not use a 74 hc 04, but get a 74 HCU 04 ic.
btw, if you get crackling noise even though you are sure that the circuit is right, try soldering a big resistor (100k ohm worked for me) directly between the coax shield and the central pin. this way I could eliminate any noise.

Another thing to try with the SPDIF input circuit is to use a 10k resistor from the output of the first inverter to ground. This will load the inverter and prevent any false inputs to the second inverter.

Need help with audigy 2 bulk

How i can make spdif IN work in audigy 2 bulk ?

I tried to fake audigy with pins 25 and 35 and put the spdif in cord to
5,6/ or 7 pins but it's not work.

Do i need SPdif interface or adapter card or what?

Please help?

Does the all digital AD_EXT output/input need adapter/ interface?

~Ari

Sorry of my english!

Doesn't your A2 bulk have a CD-SPDIF-In connector onboard?

I meant the 2 pin connector on card board (Audigy 2 "OEM"/"Var Pack" cards may differ a bit so perhaps there isn't this connector in yours) :

I have one X-Fi music and one I/O drive SB0010 (Audigy 1 – Platinum).

I did made the cable as shown at the XLS file, and I follow the pinout to the letter.

I am an EE 37 years old from Greece.

The results that I got is mixed .

I got working Headphones and IR (remote)

Midi ports and SPDIF not tested

Problems :

All my external analog speakers stopped working ( two pairs) .

MIC Input works but sounds totally overloaded, I have no sound adjustment on it by software, works even if the panel MIC switch is Off .

At On position ( of the hardware volume control) the MIC input become more overloaded , and digital noise as Hiss and cracks starting to come from the headphones output.

Is there anything more to try out.

To speak the truth, I did not try to rearrange any connections to improve the MIC volume issues (,I2S in (LineIn2/Mic2) p16v to 33 or 31 or 35) due the fact that my larger problem is the MUTED external speakers .

Headphones jack (In or Out), does not make a deference .

Is there any X-Fi Owner with a good advice about my problem ?

Hello I found a work around at my above problem .

Now i have done one patent about the IS2 issue, by connecting the SB DRIVE MIC2 and AUX 2 by an analog manner to the card.

I plan to start one separate thread talking only about X-Fi, and how my patent works.
Do I have permission to use the AD_EXT pin out image and the XLS file (modified for XiFi) ) at the new thread ?

i really doubt CL Cards support VSL, as VSL requires bit accurate SPDIF signals, whereas the 10kX DSP resamples all inputs, corrupting VSL signals (there was a thread on this in the kX forum a year or so ago regarding VSL + kX, however I believe the same to apply here)

that's only direct wave recording though - the way that CL cards deal with SPDIF is that for ASIO to pick up the SPDIF signal means it has to go through the 10kX DSP, hence the resampling and corruption of the VSL signal
(btw pins 7-8 on the AD_EXT are ground pins…)

pin 9 will work as an SPDIF output, and any ground pin, but i doubt you will get VSL working…

EDIT: I found the following quote in this thread
