IR-option, headphone, coaxial & optical SPDIF I/Os and MIDI I/Os works fine, only the microphone2/line-in2 , aux2 doesn't work. I think the problem are the pins ADCSDO2(p31), ADCSDO1(p33) and ADSCDO0(p35) (I2S audio data output) on the Drive. I tried to connect to the Audigy2 Pins I2S input Aux2(p19) and I2S input Line-in2/Mic2(p21) but the Signals are very noisy. Why do I have 3 Outputs (on the Audigy1 Drive) for A/D-Input and only 2 A/D-Inputs on the Audigy2. How can I connect these three Pins to the two on the Audigy2.

Another question. Why must I connect the p34 (Audigy2) to TAD, and why I must connect p36 to p10@J1? Which signals are on these pins?

On the drive i have 2 Outputs for SPDIF In, but only 1 Input on the Audigy 2. How can I solve this? Now i connected both of these outputs on the 1 on the Audigy2.

Thanks Offshore

Excuse me for my bad english language
Did I read your post correctly? Are you running the front panel from an Audigy 1 card on an Audigy 2 ZS card?

If so, did you have to remap any pins on the AD_EXT connector on the Audigy 2 or did you just plug the cable directly from the Audigy 2 ZS AD_EXT connector in to the Audigy 1 front panel and have everything just simply work.

I'm very interested because I am being given the front panel from an Audigy 1 ( external version ) and am trying to determine how to get it hooked up and working properly with my Audigy 2 ZS, preferably without damaging either one.

Is there a diagram that lays out the new cable pin mappings precisley or better yet somewhere I can order a cable that does this?

Mic input on Audigy 2 ZS?

Hi all,

I'm trying to get a WaveMaster audio port (the Mic) port connected to my audigy 2 zs card (connecting to the small, 10 pin white header). I have the headphones working great. I can't get the MIC working, though.

It looks like pin 6 is Mic in, pin 8 is the Bias or Voltage Ref. I've tried connecting directly to the Mic mini plug (tip/ring/sleeve). I get a lot of noise, and occasionally I'll hear my voice, but it's not usable.

Any ideas on how to get this hooked up? I'd figure that going directly to the plug was the best way to eliminate any issues. The tip should go to pin 6, the ring to pin 8, and the sleeve grounded. I've tried all combos, no joy.

When I hook the mic up to the rear of the card, it works great.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

okay, some of the technical terms are getting me annoyed. Can someone just tell me how to connect the mic and headphone ports on the front of my case to my sblive! 5.1 (sb0100). Just tell me the pins to connect the L, R, G, for both of the ports. Or "show" me a circuit to use if there aren't enough pins. (Please don't explain the circuit without a visual aid, I have trouble visualizing words alone.)

sure it can, there is a livedrive for the sblive! That has headphones and microphone ports on it. If they aren't directly connected to the sound card, then they at least are using a digital to anlog circuit to do it. All I want to know is what the circuit schematics for the livedrive's headphone and mic ports are.
I remeber reading somewhere that the livedrive uses the spdif_2 channel for the headphone port, all I want to know is how to do it.
I do have expeirence making circuits.

BTW, I also use the kx drivers, so if i need to make some changes in the kx DSP to make it work, I can.

ok i have tested both the AD_EXT and the J1 headers on my A2ZS - the "headphones" on the J1 connector mirror the front outputs on the rear of the card, so be careful with the volume level if you connect headphones to this
AD_EXT happily receives S/PDIF signals from my old audigy

Didn't know you had BOTH Live! and Audigy2 (ZS) card! Why haven't you said before?
Do you happend to have any 'drives' for any of these cards? It would help testing some new setups...

rolleyes 5.1 Optical Audigy 2 To Receiver

Great Thread ... according to the 1st posts, here s what i ve tried:

whats Niccce - Digital Output to my Amp's optical Toslink Input. Sounds great.
what Sucksss - I only get Stereo = 2 channels (front lef&right) under regular windows apps

BUT --> when i play the "Feature Showcase Demo CD" with DTS, EAX, Dolby etc. samples, all 5.1 channels are addressed!?!? my receiver has a little lcd-diagram that illuminates for each channel. I have sound on all 6 speaker, yet only 2 speaker-icons are lighting up..? (as supposed to all 6 when i hook up nvidia soundstorm)

when i play DVDs or surround games (starwars battlefield / halo) again i do have output on ALL channels, however, here certain sounds are missing, i.e. i cant hear my weapon firing / no dialogue in movies. so bottomline: its not really working.

when i play winamp (output directsound) only the center channel puts out sound...

so i m pretty confused ..

any input/clarifications appreciated here. sorry for long 1stpost
THANKS

true optical is only 2.0
you only get 5.1 when you use compression, ie ac-3

hmm i c ...

but my aim is to get surround sound = 5.1, and i was trying to get that using digital.
Doesnt that work with the platinum or platinum pro external boxes?? so i thought i might be able to recreate that port as shown above...

ALSO: isnt it weird that 6 channels are actually receiving output with this configuration??? just that some of the sounds are missing... if there was a way to only fix that

the ONLY way to get surround sound from an audigy 2 is to use 3 s/pdif connections - they are stereo only, you will only ever get 5.1 using dolby digital (ac-3)
if you really need that get an nforce 2 system

Hi dj_stick,

sorry to pop-up with a question in my first post, but I am damnly interested about this topic.

Are you saying is it possible to get surround sound (5.1) output from Audigy 2 (Audigy 2ZS too?) using 3 s/pdif connection?
As far as I can understand doing this I will get 3 PCM output (24/96?) s/pdif signals, am I right?

Which pins are releated to this signals on AD_EXT connector?

Thank you very much in advance and take my apologize for all these questions!

pins 9,27,29,31 are all s/pdif outs… i use kX to control these, so i don't know which ones you will need - but first try with 27 as front, 29 as rear and 31 as sub/centre

Hi Chris,

thank you for your reply.

I'm looking on Kx website: there are a lot of informations and without them installed (I still have to buy a audigy 2) it's difficoult to understand what they can do.

So are you saying that with Kx audio drivers/suite you can route all 5.1 channels to the s/pdif puts you want?
Can you also upsample (to 24bit/96Khz) the signal?

Thank you for you patience!

The original pinout file is unavailable, does anyone know where else I can get it? I cant seem to access the kX wesbite.
Basically I would like to hook up additional line-ins if that is possible.

Cheers

upsampling is useless. You will stll hear the lower quality of the 16/48 source
