No sound with Audigy LS...HELP!!!
I put in a new power supply last night, since AT LEAST that time I can't get my soundcard to work at all. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers a couple different times and have also tried to use a diff. PCI slot.
I'm getting an error that I have no clue as to what it means, is there anyone on here that might be able to help me with this? I have no clue whats wrong. http://img22.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img22...udigyError.jpg |

I'm probably going to wait on reformatting until I get my new gfx card, just strange though.
I think I pinpointed what it is though. I just don't know how to fix it. It says in my device manager it's not recognizing a device named "multimedia audio controller".... I tried d/l'ing an updated driver from soundblasters website which for some reason prompts me asking for a disk in my A: drive, and I can't run the CD because of the error in the pic in my last post. It also said in devide manager that there are some registry entries that are incomplete or corrupt. I'm not one to go and just delete a bunch of keys for the hell of it so....what do ya do y'know. I even spoke with a guy from compaq about it earlier, he said boot to safe mode and install the new driver.....which I can't do because it's not recognizing ANY sound devices in safe mode and won't allow me to run the install. Sometimes I just want to put my steel toes on and give the computer one swift kick in the northbridge area....maybe that'd teach it a lesson.....

Does your motherboard have on-board sound? If so during the PSU swap your bios might of been partially or totally reset thus turning your on-board back on.

Yeah the mobo has onboard sound, I've tried all settings...enabled, disabled and auto and none of them make a difference. I still have no sound.
Frustrating machine... |

an error like that sounds like you are installing the drivers again?
if so try to remove the originals using Driver Cleaner and then re-installing

Nope, that didn't work either. Just ran driver cleaner. I guess I'll just have to deal with no sound until I reformat.

try the card in another machine, the new PSU may have damaged the card

Well...tried it in 2 diff. machines. Onboard worked on the other machine, haven't tried it on this one. The card didn't work in the other one, I also reluctantly reformatted and still doesn't work. Yet seems to be setup correctly.
Guess I need to have a talk with the manufacturer.... |
