Can a sub hurt a computer?

the ideal spot for my sub and computer happen to be within a few feet of eachother. Being that it's a beastly z-680 sub, im a little worried the vibrations could hurt some of the comp components? is this a groundless fear?

Tanx.

Donator
I don't see it being a problem if everything is screwed on tightly or supported somehow.

best info.... Keep your computer off the floor reguardless of the serface at LEAST 6 inches..... keep the sub woofer probably a good 3 feet away... as any subwoofer will pile drive a computer case. Even if things are tightened well the force exserted on any of the components can shake loose just about everything... cd-rom drives don't like vibration.. results in extremely slow transfer rates.. hardrive don't really care for it either...... one mistake i see alot of people make... and manufactures trying to sway people into thinking it's a good idea.. is to build desks with cubby holes of sorts that fit the computer well.... a subwoofer will really give a machine a hard time if it's within the the desk area... and the machine is in that little hole.. (it's bad for vibration... usually placement... and just overall cooling usually.... Best place to put a subwoofer? in around 6-8 inches of the wall in a corner.... keep your machine 3 feet in all direction away from this.... (and out of the corner the sub is in or the adjacent corner as that corner will have nearly identical results depending on what is in the room)

Some subwoofers are not magnetically shielded, so if it is too close to the computer, it may eventually cause damage to your hard drive and lose some data. Make sure it's not toooo close. But a few feet should be ok.

most subwoofers that are built FOR the pc HAVE to be sheilded or else they don't pass the FCC rules set... = ... not releaseable to to the public...

But the vibrations will cause damage..... not being sheilded will results in more problems that just oventual ware and tear.. it'll be apparent very quickly..

I have Z-540s -- the 400 watt Logitech's. My computer is like 2 inches off the floor/carpet on a thing of wood that is the bottom of my desk, the sub is on the carpet, right in the corner.... like 1 inch off the two corners off the wall, this is about 3.5 feet to the left of my case.
I've had this setup for about 6 months, no problems so far whatsoever...

is it an attack sub or a missile sub? makes a huge difference in type & capability of damage.
