Does it matter that the Z-5300 is analog?

Hi, I have a SB Live! 5.1 Digital from Dell, and I'm currently using 2.1 speakers. I'm interested in purchasing a mid-range 5.1 computer speaker system. I would prefer a powerful and good quality speaker set with a low price

I'm looking at the Logitech Z-5300. I've heard it's pretty good for its price. However, it only has analog input. Since I have a digital output in my sound card, I was wondering if I'm wasting this feature. Does digital/analog make a difference in sound quality or anything? And does it matter that the Z-5300 is not digital, or should I find a better speaker system? Thanks.

there is very little difference, and currently with most speakers only using a single digital port, analogue is the only way to get full 5.1 sound from every PC source

Ah. I'll consider a Z-5300 then... but are there any other speakers of similar price that I should consider?

i don't know… read the speaker recomendation thread for ideas… i myself use a 2.0 setup with a pair of edirol ma-10d speakers - analogue sound with that sounds "warmer" than digital imho anyway
