rolleyes Audigy Digital Out and Receiver Optical Input. How to Connect?

Guys, i have an Audigy board that has a yellow/orange connector described as "Digital Out".

I want to connect Audigy to Receiver by this connection. But i don't have any idea where to find the necessary cable.

To try to solve this problem, i'm describing how my receiver is. It has these inputs:

(this is not the same image as my Receiver. Only to make things easily)

My receiver has the Coaxial input (orange in the left corner), but this input is busy with my DVD Player. The remaining inputs are Opticals (square format in the left corner). I want to use these inputs for the Audigy>Receiver connection.

So, what type of connector is necessary to connect inside Audigy's Digital Out? And the other side, must be an optical connector, right?

I found a similar cable, but i don't know if is the right cable. The link (just click below):

and

Is this the necessary cable? If not, can someone help me with another theory?

Thanks in advance!

to convert electrical signals in the coaxial medium to optical signals in the optical medium, you need an LED, with a buffer circuit to keep your card safe

see if your DVD player has an optical output you can connect to the receiver, or if you can connect coaxial in to your DVD and passthrough it.

you can also buy audio switches that will allow you to switch between incoming signals

remember using a single digital wire you will only ever get 2.0 signal

So this cable is not the right thing to buy?

The right connector in Audigy Digital Out and the left connector in the Optical Output of my Receiver. I need an LED, though? Where can I find it? If you could post a link to all accessories that i must to have, i'll be very thankful.

Thanks so much for the help.

Don't bother using the digital out on the Audigy, it won't provide you anything as it's basically useless for anything but a digital pass through for watching movies, but you said you already have a dvd player connect so you're all set.

Genius, its not exactly useless - it can achieve higher quality than analogue… unless you want 5.1 sound
otherwise analogue is the way to go…

you will need to buy/build a converter module that will convert such a signal - look in the electronics section at www.elecricstart.de (travelrec, the owner of the site is a regular poster in the kX forum, so drop a message there if you are having trouble) remember this requires a little skill in soldering
