Soundcard & Speakers discussion thread.
seeing as the other 3 threads relating to this were gettign slightly old, its time for a new one
![]() my current setup may appear slightly strange to some of you gamers i have a Soundblaster Audigy ES powered by the kX Project Audio Drivers fed into a Behringer UB802 Mixer, which then output to a pair of Edirol MA-10Ds i also have a Sennheiser Evolution e 817 Microphone for recording purposes, which is connected to the mixer and fed into the soundcard. EDIT: i have now added an Audigy 2 ZS to the mix, 8 mono inputs now

hmm...
Well, I've upgrade to Audigy 2 ZS from Audigy Platinum recently...
I pay much attention to static in audio, therefore I'm now completely satisfied... ...must also have to do something with upgrading from Megaworks 510D to Gigaworks S750... ![]() Drivers... Well, I'm back to Creative, eventhough my heart lies in kX. Still, there's a lot to be done in kX releases to fully integrate the ZS's potential...

My hometheater pc now consist of Creative Audigy 2 ZS with Kx drivers directly connected to my digital active speakers Meridian DSP 5000. I will put these as back channels when funding allows for Meridian DSP 5500 fronts.
Digital active speakers kicks azz!

Hi guys. Remember me? lol.
Anyway, at the moment, I have a Philips Aurilium 5.1 soundcard with the Grado SR-60 headphones. I must say, after burning in the SR-60's and connecting them to the headphone output of this soundcard, I've heard some of the best sound I've heard from a computer ever. Too bad they discontinued Aurilium cuz it couldn't keep up with Audigy 2 NX sales . (I've never tried the Audigy 2... I'll have to try it sometime. I hope it's good. If it's better than this card, then I'll have to buy .)

Audigy 2ZS /w Klipsch Promedia's 5.1's. I've been very satisfied with the speakers for quite awhile now. I'm using Grado's as well.

Very high quality, comfortable, sound excellent.. I would recommend to anyone. Mic is also very good, with switch - and there is a volume control in line. I got them for around $40 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...&s=electronics Also- they take a few hours to "break in" - the more you use them the better they sound

i sure have to disagree about the high quality of Sennheiser headphones. my HD497's broke in under a month. the wires that go into the earpieces ripped. and now only one of the speakers works.

My Sennheiser headphones are very high quality, they sound great and have had no problems. I would recommend them to anyone.

EMU 0404. It's the best value card for sound quality ATM but it's only stereo. I'm going to try and get these modded drivers working for awesome gaming

Don't use PC speakers, use a full hifi setup that's much better if you buy the right components

someday i definately will, can't afford though
Question about bass redirection, what is the optimal setting for the z-5300? Ive seen a few ppl using these in this thread. Ive read ur supposed to find the crossover freq and set it at that. But i dont know too much. Anyone have a quick answer? I have it in between 85-100 hz Ben |

the quick answer is this:
change the frequency while listening to music or something, until you find the right frequency for your ears, room etc. pretty much what sounds best for you
