I have a Klipsch setup with two sats and a sub. Sound card is Audigy Plat. Is there a way to add speakers to my existing setup in order to get a surround experience?
Thanks, rasta

Yes, kindof anyway. Connecting a pair of regular stereo speakers to the rear output would make them act like if they were the rear set in a 4.1 system. It would at least be better than nothing so give it a try with whatever speakers you can get to try it with.

Or you can sell your 2.1 setup on ebay -- put in some extra cash and get the 5.1 setup by Klipsch that will blow you the f**k away

both suggestions will work… cheapest way is if you already have an old pair of speakers - connect that to the rear output of the soundcard and place where it suits you.
audio quality will most likely be less than your current speakers… but as they are only rear speakers it should not matter so much

actually.. it's freaking sweet if you can find a 3.1 setup or say another 4.1 setup..... this would produce 6.1 surround sound (which i think the audigy has)... er... 6.2 if you considering both the subs .1... running dual sub mode... you get sweet results.... as you can have one in one corner and the other in another corner.. and feel the strengths of each differently..... only one issue... volume control across the system... enless you like setting your speakers at a volume and using your computer volume control

and using the computer volume control… you lose 1 bit of digital resolution if the volume is not maximum (15 bit audio then)

But does that only apply to creative cards?

i think it applies to all digital audio cards
as the 16bit resolution defines the dynamic range if you have the volume at 50% you are not using the full dynamic range, it is more like 8 bit
