turning cassettes to CD????
Ok I was thinking of ripping my cassettes useing a walkman , a stereo 1/8 cable, and software. ok thats the question what software? i was going to hook the cable into the mic jack on my soundcard to transferr the music. Is there a better way with my card? i did this before using musicmatch but did not like the quality. i do understand what you put in is what you get out but there has to be a better program out there.

get a tapedeck, a computer and a decent program like soundforge, aswell as some mastering plugins. record with soundforge, and use the plugins to remove some of the tape noise - programs that convert vinyl to cd should do the trick

LINE IN, not Microphone, or it really will be awful. Ideally, you should use a tape deck with Line-out, but if you must use a headphone out, be sure to level any tone controls and turn off "hyper-bass".
The good old EAC - www.exactaudiocopy.org has recording capability, and in the "process WAV" function, it can do noise reduction - profile based, using a noise only sample, and it's VERY effective. It can also normalize the level, and even create tracks in a cuesheet - maybe even burn it to CD for you as well. EAC - it's not just for CD ripping! |
